Samuel Merritt ABSN Summer 2012

Published

Hi everyone! :nurse:

So, the applications are due today (September 1st) for summer admission to ABSN program at Samuel Merritt. How does everyone feel about their application??  What campus did you apply to?

Hey, does anyone else know what "status" your application is at? I just sent an email and my status is still "IP" in progress, even though I have sent all my official transcripts to SMU from this past Fall semester. It may just take awhile before it gets into the system, but I hope it is inputted before a decision is made! Yikes!

I'm new here too and I also would like to know what "status" of my app is. Once my fall classes were finished, I quickly printed and sent in an unofficial transcript for my last 2 classes including a stamped envelope so they could sent it back letting me know they got it. I did get the envelope back with a note saying the transcripts were received! Hopefully everyone gets in!!

My choices are

1. San Mateo (since it's closest to home)

2. Oakland

3. SF

Good luck!

anyone contact admissions recently for updates?

hey everyone,

i was just browsing prior year SM absn threads and some people received statistics from the admissions office regarding number of applicants, for each location. Does anyone have that information for this summer session?

HERE'S WHAT I WROTE ABOUT 2 WEEKS AGO (ALSO FOUND ON PAGE 9):

With the nerves out of control, I couldn't contain myself and I decided to call SMU. I asked one of the counselors from the admissions office when we would MOST LIKELY hear back and she stated that we'll probably be receiving emails during the last week of January on the decision. :sniff:

So, I haven't contacted them for an update since then, but who knows...we might be finding out something THIS WEEK or maybe even NEXT WEEK. My guess is that we'll find out something next week. But who knows, for the Summer 2011 ABSN program, they started to receive decisions around March 10, 2011! Ouch!

Perhaps....someone give them another call for another update? :) I'm not gonna do it though...Ha. Despite how anxious I am, I'm fine now. I don't care if it comes this week or March.

pnlu007,

I suggest you call SMU and ask what the number of applicants is... Jason B has already contacted admissions and I have been going back and forth with them about my transcripts and such, so I don't think either one of us wants to call and bug them about something else!

Nah, I had to do the same thing. I had to kinda push ---- to deliver my latest unofficial transcript to my file that was with the nursing department.

Jason B... You don't care??!! What are you just chillin' like a villain or what? haha!

BTW...I'm just giving you a hard time Jason B... I sent ------ an email asking her what the number of applicants is for the summer 2012 program. I'll let you all know if I hear back.

Ha! Yeah....I'm pretty much chillin like a villain. Between trying to learn Spanish from Rosetta Stone, to enjoying easy self-employment income, to doing absolutely NOTHING, I think I may have just learned to control my anxiety and I'm just enjoying my "time off" from school at the moment.

Yeah, when you hear something from -----, definitely keep us posted on the # of applicants for the summer 2012 program.

Hey ABSN Hopefuls! I'm in the SMU OAK ABSN program now (48 students, due to graduate May 2012), so if you have any questions I might be able to answer, feel free to send. Please note that often answers are campus specific so if you're interested in OAK for Summer 2012, I can probably help the most! Overall, it's a fantastic program, well worth the money (we all know that no one can really afford it), and we are learning a ton. Some instructors are better than others, some clinical sites are better than others, and it's what you make of it. But that's the case with any academic adventure! Tons of guys in the program and ages ranging from 23 - 58 years old. I'm 39 with a husband and two kids (ages 3, 6) and it's totally doable. The hardest part is the Fall.

brendalwelch, thank you so much for your insight and advice! I'm sure we will be taking you up on your offer of advice for the program if we can actually get into the program!! Wish us luck and good luck to you in your studies!
