Hi everyone!
So, the applications are due today (September 1st) for summer admission to ABSN program at Samuel Merritt. How does everyone feel about their application??
What campus did you apply to?
The EFC factors in your and your parents/spouses's income/salary and assets. It's basically used to determine whether you will be eligible for need based financial aid. If your EFC is too high, you will not be getting the subsidized loans only the unsubsidized ones from the government because they have determined you don't "need" it.
Just got "the Call" and accepted! Obvi... That means you are next aluflow! Super excited to meet all you in person at orientation! I hope everyone on the waitlist and waiting to hear back about SM campus gets to know the feeling I have right now of complete elation! Yay SMU ABSN Summer 2012-13!
Ha ha! Yeah, I just got the call five minutes ago. I'm pretty sure she thought I was half-crazy I was laughing so much by way of being delirious and incapable of believing I was having that conversation. Katie I will see you at orientation I can't even believe it!!
So at least that's awesome news to those at 20+ on the list. If they went through the first 11 in just over three weeks...
Wannabnurse81, do not lose hope!! Look how quickly things are moving and there is still time for the Oakland cohort AND the SM-June cohort!!! There was so much movement on the waitlist for SM-April cohort and Oakland cohort so there is definitely a good chance that many people from the waitlist will be accepted. I was surprised at how many people are declining their acceptances but as we have seen, it happens and it'll work out for you.

My guess regarding EFC is money that you have saved up to pay for the program or money your family is giving you for use towards the program. I'm not 100% sure though. I guess they want to know that so they can give you a better estimate of the amount of money you would need in loans.
