Hi everyone! :nurse:

So, the applications are due today (September 1st) for summer admission to ABSN program at Samuel Merritt. How does everyone feel about their application?? :up: :down: What campus did you apply to?

Did you guys have SF or SM as your second choice after Oakland?

@wannabnurse81- I am number 10 on Oakland (or was- I know that last week #4 got it). I haven't heard anything either.... The only thing that I can think is that my preferences were:

1. Oakland

2. SF

3. SM

But that is kinda strange, and perhaps a little unsettling that we haven't been offered anything yet. I am still hoping to get in to Oakland. This whole process is confusing to me.

Katiebelle - what was my preference as well.. so maybe the people who have been accepted to SM and SM as their second choice? But wait... That actually doesn't make sense, because the SM April start (which is the cohort that these wait-listers were accepted to) is ACTUALLY the SF cohort, since SF classes are being taught in SM this year. SO, that is why I'm freaking out thinking that maybe the didn't receive my letter of intent to STAY on the waitlist??!! Cause YOU for sure should have been called of the wait-list and I should have been called off before 29 and 35 were called off... I am SO confused. I emailed (MODERATOR EDIT OF INITIALS - PLEASE DO NOT POST WHERE ANYONE COULD IDENTIFY THE INDIVIDUAL - THANK YOU), but have not heard back. :(

Aww Dont worry... I am sure this will all workout! (kinda sure at least)... I emailed her too! Did you just as for a waitlist status update or did you tell her what has been going on with people further down the waitlist? I just asked her for a status update. I am sure they received our papers holding our spot on the waitlist. I sent mine certified mail and got the conformation slip back. And I still haven't heard either. I am freaking out too but I think we will know more by the end of the week.

I feel bad for the SM cohort apps. They dont even have their decisions yet and spots are already being given away to other waitlisters. Im not gonna lie, that is brutal... We all just need to hang in a little longer. All of this obsessing is exhausting, but I can't seem to stop!

I also just asked for a status update. I do feel bad for all you SM applicants but, at least you all should know that these Oakland waitlisters who are know going to SM are actually the SF cohort, so your spots are not being given away. This is all so odd... Good luck everyone!

It definitely is odd that I'd get an offer to go to SM - April before you guys would get the offer.. Maybe it is because I was so far down the Oakland waitlist that the counselor figured I'd have no chance waiting on the Oakland list?

I had SF as my second choice but after realizing that it starts in April, I asked to switch it with SM for my second choice. However, it doesn't seem like they even changed that on my app.

I really want to get into the Oakland cohort but I'm afraid I will not get in if I pass this up.

this is what i think...they are clearly having a challenge filling up the 144 seats for all three cohorts...people bailed on the San Francisco at a scary rate clearly, as they already made it to number 35 on oakland's cohort...meaning they are targeting people who are deep on the waitlist, as they are likely to accept going to a different cohort on such short notice...their main objective right now is not to fill up June San Mateo-as they have nearly 4 full months to do so. There priority is to fill up april...my thoughts...and no offense to anyone...if you meet minimum grades standards, Teas scores, and wrote clearly in your statement you are likely to get accepted to one of the cohorts. So my belief is that SF (April now SM) and SM-June DO NOT have 88 qualified candidates...so i think SM folks-relax (i know its easy for me to say)...but you are likely to get accepted if your application was anywhere decent.

I'm wondering at this point if I should just tell them I'm willing to take an SM April start seat. If its all San Mateo then there's not much difference.

Hello All,My preferences were:1. Oakland2. San Mateo3. San FranciscoSo SF was my last choice but finishing this program next April vs May or June will actually workout better for me financially even though I live in the East Bay and will either have to deal with bridge tolls or public transportation. But the faster I can get a job as a RN the better :)

just received an update: San Mateo-April start is now back to San Francisco-April start. They didn't finish the construction so I guess we'll be having classes in SF and clinicals in SF.
