Samuel Merritt ABSN Summer 2012

Hi everyone!

So, the applications are due today (September 1st) for summer admission to ABSN program at Samuel Merritt. How does everyone feel about their application?? What campus did you apply to?

Well that data must be skewed now because they are working on Oakland wait list, SM has heard nothing AND that would mean registration begins in 4 days according to the schedule...don't see how that is possible.

Jason B - agreed . I think this is harder on my family than me at this point. I keep playing the mind game...it will be next Tuesday. Its really hard not to think about at this point.

Summer admission:

April - Classes will be taught in San Mateo, and clinicals will be offered in the greater San Francisco Bay Area.

May - Classes will be taught in Oakland, and clinicals will be offered in the greater East Bay Area.

June - Classes will be taught in San Mateo, and clinicals will be offered in the greater South Bay Area

I saw the calendar on their website and freaked out thinking that's way too little time, especially since SM decisions haven't been announced yet.

Oraaaaaannggge Peeeeels! Congrats! I can't believe they are already at #4 on the waitlist!!!!! I think we all have a good chance of getting in if that is the case... And I am sure that by 3/15 or 3/16 (days letters of intent are due + deposit) we will know a whole lot more. I am feeling hopeful and Thank you so much for letting us know! Otherwise, I would have had no idea.

Just out of curiousity, what day did you find out? This website says that posts occur at a certain time (ant not even consistently and it is the wrong time too). Sorry to be nosey but you know how it is...

Katiebelle1 lol!! Yeah it really looks promising for everyone! I got the call today around 1:30pm PST and then her email within a minute or two after that. I missed her call (of course) because I was working, but she left a vm and sent an email. I'm sure you'll definitely hear by 03/16!

If that is the case, then it's really unfair to the San Mateo students. We barely have anytime to prepare for this intense program! I hope we find out soon.

There is a lot of confusion regarding the SF and SM cohorts. The SF cohort (the "April" cohort) classes will be taking place at the SM campus, probably just for facility purposes. I don't think this implies that the original "San Mateo June" cohort starts in April. Here is my reasoning why:

1) On SMU website, it just says SF cohort will start in April. Then it says below the June cohort would be in San Mateo.

2) Us San Mateo people still haven't found out. SF people found out about 2-3 weeks ago, right?

It would be completely unfair to have a program move its startup time a month and a half in advance. Part of the reason I applied to the San Mateo campus was for the start date...

Has anybody contacted SMU for clarification?

i dont think you guys should be concerned with SM cohort being moved up 2 months. i went to the website and it doesn't sound confusing at all. Now San mateo is listed twice under summer sessions, one for april and one for june.

congrats to orangepeels! I cannot believe that they are already going through the waitlist... that is pretty crazy! I have a feeling the SM people will find out today, so good luck!!!
