Samuel Merritt ABSN Summer 2012

Hi everyone!

So, the applications are due today (September 1st) for summer admission to ABSN program at Samuel Merritt. How does everyone feel about their application?? What campus did you apply to?

I haven't received an email yet either. I wonder if they're going by last names. Mine is at the very end. Yours? Also, they might be going by which campus. My first choice was San Mateo. But, ElenaH got an email already and I think she applied for the San Mateo campus as well. So, I'm a little worried too. But, I know that they got my app because they cashed my check already.

I don't think you have too much to worry about. I got that email late on Friday afternoon. My last name starts with a B, so they could very well be going by last name. Give it another 3-5 days. I'm sure you'll hear something sometime next week...

1st choice: San Mateo

2nd choice: San Francisco

3rd choice: Oakland

I also have NOT received an email, but my last name starts w/ a K and my 1st choice is Oakland, 2nd SF, 3rd San Mateo. Jason's last name is w/ a B and he is applying to San Mateo, so that that does look like they are going by last name and also by campus. From reading past postings, it seems like the San Mateo campus is always the first to know. Hang in there everyone! :)

Thanks for the slight ease of mine haha! My choices were:

1 - Oakland

2 - SF

3 - San Mateo

Did you guys apply anywhere else or have a back-up plan in case this falls through? I was thinking I should prepare to re-take the TEAS or redo one of prereqs that I got an ugly grade on for the Spring application but I haven't decided yet. I kind of just put all my hope into this one app lol

I kinda put all my eggs in this one basket for now. If things happen to not go well, then I'll apply to all ABSN programs around California. I just gotta keep my fingers crossed. The nursing decision for me kinda came abruptly. I decided to quit my job as a Branch Manager for WFHM (loan modifications dept) in December 2010, sold my house, moved back in with my parents and packed 11 prereqs into 11 months starting this past February 2011. My last 2 prereqs will be completed this December....

So, I just read on SMU's website that they're still accepting apps for Summer 2012. :uhoh21: I wonder if that means they didn't get enough applications or they didn't like the candidates. eeek

On other note, I have yet to receive an email from them. I hope they didn't mess up my email address. That would be terrible.

Oh no...!! That is SO annoying... This happened last year too (from old posts that I read). That means that we won't find out until like, March 2012. BOO!!!

Have you heard back from SMU yet? I'm getting so anxious, especially since it seems that San Mateo is always the first to know.

No, I haven't heard from them yet... I looked back in old posts and it looks like for Summer 2011 applicants did not find out until February. In that particular posting, the order to find out was Oakland, SF, then San Mateo. SMU was accepting new applicants late into the application process last year as well.

I also just read this from the website regarding the applications they are still accepting, "Depending on when an application is submitted, it may be considered for a waitlist position only."

Well, my friend is in the Summer 2011 cohort and she said that they used the NursingCAS. If I remember correctly, I think the NursingCAS deadline was in December or January. I might be wrong. But, I think things are different this time around since we are back to the paper app. I have another friend who applied for the Spring 2012 cohort and she said she heard back from them in mid September (about 2.5 months). So, I guess it's just different for every cohort. Just have to hope for the best. But, the more I wait, the more doubt I have. =\

Ya the summer 2011 applicant deadline did us CAS, but the deadline was just like ours... 9/1. It may take longer for the summer applicants to hear back because it is all 3 campuses, while spring is and fall are just 2 campuses.
