Hi everyone!
So, the applications are due today (September 1st) for summer admission to ABSN program at Samuel Merritt. How does everyone feel about their application??
What campus did you apply to?
Hey, I know this is wishful thinking still... But to anyone who is on the waiting list - did you fill out the FAFSA form? I filled it out, but was denied.Problem is, I make really good money right now, so obviously, they assume I do not need any help, but I will be quitting my job IF I get accepted, and therefore will not have my income anymore, so how do you get around that?? Any ideas?
I filled out the FAFSA form but I didn't get any notice if I was denied or accepted. I'm not sure how you can get around your situation but I would contact the financial aid people at SMU and see if they could offer any advice. Good luck!!
I just called the main number and then asked to be transferred to her. I doubt she will answer ... I sent her an email asking if she thought I should send in an app for next term (due march 1st). Nut haven't heard back yet. If I don't hear back from her I am just gonna send one in anyways. I don't want to risk it if I dont get in off the wait list. I haven't finished my FAFSA yet. Just finally located my 2010 tax return...
wannabnurse81- Not sure how to get around the whole making good money and not being accepted for FAFSA. You should call the financial aid office (actually in the business office as the finance office handles AR and actually collection of $). I met with ------ last Friday and she was really helpful although, since I am wait listed, all she could give me was hypothetical advice. I forget her last name but I think she is the only ------.
I got my email from the office at 545 on the day I found out about my wait list status so just bc you dont find out by 5 pm, doesnt mean it is not a possibilty to find out that day (today, any day).
Remember wait listers- they have been making it pretty far down the wait list each term so dont fret. I had a friend who was #20 last year (forget which term) and a friend who was #30 and got accepted the Friday before school started. You don't know until school actually starts if youre not in.
Plus, if we don't get in this term, we will most likely (hopefully) get in for November. I am super nervous too. Not knowing is really hard and it is literally all I can think about. I am sure we will all keep each other posted if/as we get in so we can know where they are in the wait list acceptances. It will happen for all of us. Remember, the Captain said he applied and was pretty far down on the wait list and then was accepted the next time. Plus, there is a reason why there are 55 wait list positions for a 48 student cohort. A lto of people chose other options or have trouble securing financing.
That said, I am FREAKING OUT!
Where are all the SF April people at???wannabnurse81-I have the same problem with Financial Aid except I was not denied from FAFSA yet but had applied for student loans elsewhere and have been denied. I'm currently making a lot of money as well so I may get denied or not get a lot from FAFSA. "L" from Financial Aid is helping me with the process so hopefully I can still get loans but I'm not so sure since I do not have the best credit nor do I have a cosigner.. Will keep you guys updated. For all the wait listers, I was #33 last Fall 2011 and eventually got in but literally the day before classes started which did not give me enough time to apply for loans, quit my job, etc. But I was accepted this time around. So keep your heads up and continue to work achieve your goal!
Hi everyone!
Although I still haven't gotten a response to my billions of emails that I have sent to ----, I did reach someone else (-----) who was able to answer my questions.
She stated that I do not have to resubmit another application for the Fall2012 cohort and that all my information from this application cycle can be used for review again. (THANK GOODNESS!!!)
She also stated that for the waitlisters, it's going to be very unpredictable and that she will have a better idea of where we all stand in mid-March, after the deposits are due for those who have been accepted.
She told me to just sit tight and to try to not stress out too much until then.
