**Samuel Merritt ABSN Summer 2011**

I did! I was about to start this thread, but here it is.....

so we won't hear until March eh?

I applied for the SF cohort.

I have been looking for a thread on the Summer ABSN program. I applied to all three campuses.

I applied for SF as well. For some reason I thought you could only apply to one campus for summer entry. Bummer.

Did you guys apply anywhere else, just in case?

March seems soo far way.

I also applied to Los Medanos, Merritt College, and CSUEB.

Thanks for starting this thread! I can't believe it takes SMU 6 months to process applications and send out letters. Wow - but I did like the new NursingCAS system and thought it was a breeze. I'm applying to Oakland and I know the competition is stiff so I wish everyone the best of luck! My stats:

Overall Post-High School GPA: 3.57

Last 60 Units GPA: 3.83

Sciences Prereq GPA: 3.75

TEAS: 91.8%

I am 38 years old and transitioning from a 15+ year career in Technology Project Management to Nursing! I'm super excited but anxious to see how I will manage. I have a husband and two small kids (ages 3 and 5 1/2) so it will be tough to balance and prioritize school, family, life (think it will be in that order!). But hey, I think you can manage anything for a year. My friend who is a single mom to a 5 year old just completed the ABSN at SMU's San Mateo campus with a 4.0... if she can do it, I can!!

You can stipulate that you'd like to be considered for more than one campus in NursingCAS (under Designations)... they just want to know which is your first choice so they send you an email (or two or three) to ask you that question! :)

I too can't believe how long it takes to get a response from SMU. I applied to all three campuses for the summer and I think I might also apply for the SF fall start. I also have a three year old and I am transitioning from a 10+ year mortgage career to nursing. I have Oakland as my first choice (the other two would make for a long commute). It will be interesting to see how this works with a small child, but I am encouraged to hear that your single mom friend made it through. Best of luck to everyone!

yeah, best of luck to everyone.......

Hello All. I also applied to all 3 campuses, but San Mateo was my first choice. Does anyone know if one campus is easier than the others to get into? just curious...I also want to switch to San Francisco campus. Are we allowed to switch schools if accepted? Thanks guys!

I don't think that you can switch where your preference is, but I would call if I were you. It never hurts.

Does anyone have any advice on where to find some volunteer work right now in SF?

I can't really find any, which is a shocker

thanks
