Hi everyone! I'm starting this discussion for those who applied for smu ABSN program for the Spring 2024 cohort! I was curious if any of y'all received updates/email from smu yet. Good luck everyone!  

Has anyone received their "Activate Okta Account" email from SMU Okta to set up their Samuel Merritt account (different from new student portal)?

I was having trouble with this as well. I contacted them earlier and they said they will give me a call about it tomorrow. Something about information not being in my account or whatever. But yeah no activation email has been sent to me either.

Hello! I just got my waitlist notification email and I'm placed 1 of 10 for San Mateo Spring of 2024. It seems like I'm next, but being in the waitlist still worries me. Wish me luck!

For anyone having issues paying the holding deposit, I called the registrar and even she said the portal isn't intuitive.

After submitting the Letter of Intent, once you're at the SMURF site, click Student Accounts > Financial Portal > Financial Portal Entrance > scroll down to 'Tuition Deposit' > Enter in the amount yourself ($350) and the term (Spring 2024). Then it'll ask for payment details.

I literally would not have known to do this if the kind registrar wouldn't have told me ?

EDIT: I'm dumb and the 'how to make a deposit' link explains it, sigh.

I just received a call from IT Support. I now have access to mySMU aka SMU okta. I recommend that if you havent received your activation email, give IT support a call and click option 1. They will help you get access.

I was accepted for Sacramento as well! Super excited!

I also didn't receive a link for Okta. I called IT support and the man I spoke with had a hard time locating me in the system and ultimately couldn't find me ? and get me the login information so I'll try again on Monday. But I was able to submit my letter of intent and put down the deposit.

Anyone have any idea of the school calendar? Like how long each term is and when they start/end? 

And anyone up for making a facebook group? It seems that it's acceptable to post a link for a FB group.

Hi we will graduate dec 2024! We start Jan 2nd and every 5 weeks we will switch classes. We start clinicals after week 5 as well . So far lab days are Friday and Monday 8-5pm and the rest u can choose your schedule for the other classes.

Friday or Monday * for lab

Which campus did you are you in?  So the first five weeks of classes you do not go to a clinical rotation?  Are you on campus Mon-Fri during those 5 weeks from 8am-5pm?  If you do not mind my asking when did you turn in your application and when did you find out you got accepted after you turned in your application? I spoke with the admissions counselor for the San Mateo campus and they stated that theory courses are in person.  But I heard through other students that they are online so I am a bit confused.

It looks like you are currently a CNA with a bachelors in another field?  Do you think that your CNA experience factored into your acceptance into the program?

When did you apply to the program?  I am curious because I want to apply for the Summer program at the San Mateo campus and I am curious how long after I apply would I receive an acceptance letter.  If not, then I will have to defer to the Fall 2024 if they will even allow that.  I need at least 6 months in between acceptance and start of courses due to work commitments.

I applied really last minute. I believe I turned in my application on the actual deadline at July 1st. My letters of recommendations were also sent late which made me think I wouldn't have a chance due to everything being last minute. But I received the waitlist email about second week of September so about 10 weeks later. I still haven't heard anything back since then but it's only been a week. They say waitlist move up within couple weeks all the way until the week before classes starts in January so I have plenty of time to wait :) Goodluck!
