Hello!
I'm new to this site, but have been following the allnurses posts regarding Samuel Merritt program applications religiously for a while now. I recently applied to the ABSN and ELMSN - FNP program for the July 1 deadline. Thought it would be great to have a place to provide insight, stay updated and share experiences with all of you through this terrifying journey. I mean we ONLYYY have to wait until October - November to hear anything. Let the wait begin.....
Looking forward to hearing from you all :)
Which program? Cm or fnp?
Hi! I accepted the Sacramento CM program, but was put on the waitlist for FNP (they didn't officially tell me, but I saw it when I went to accepted CM). I'm on a Fbook group for the ELMSN & so far there's only like 5 CM students. So don't give up hope, I think they're still sending out acceptances!
Thank you so much MamaKat!!! Your kind words mean a lot and made me feel a lot less anxious and helpless about this situation.I'm sending good thoughts and vibes your way as well! If waitlisting doesn't work out this cohort, I know you'll be successful with a reapplication!
Thanks Boogalooga! I'm already planning my reapply strategy! :)
Thanks! I emailed her and am anxiously waiting to hear back. Probably too much to hope for on the weekend but I'll keep everyone posted- seems pretty weird since I did not choose San Mateo as a second choice or anything.
Boogalooga, that is just the strangest!! Did you only mark Sacramento as your first choice? I know I put Sac as my first and second, but you would think it wouldn't matter. The fact that you didn't put a Bay Area campus should be enough!
I hope that gets straightened out for you. I can't imagine that they'd be like "oh well, I guess you'll just have to apply again!". My guess is that they'll place you in one of the openingss before they move waitlisters in (Sorry StudentNurseInTraining! But you're #1, so you're as good as in anyway!)
I probably won't be back on much, but I just want to give a virtual high five to everyone who got in!! Also, WebbC1, Boogalooga, and StudentNurseInTraining, I feel like Dorothy leaving her three friends in OZ! I'm seriously SO happy for all of you!! I hope to be right on your heels in the Fall 2019 cohort or Spring 2020 cohort! I'm going to PM each of you so we can hopefully be FB friends! I want to watch your journey through SMU!! Hugs to everyone!!!

That was a good idea to mark Sac as your first and second choice!! I only placed it was my first and then didn't choose an alternate.
I really hope you're right that they will just place me in an opening before bringing anyone in off of the waitlist! I would be extremely sad and upset to have to reapply (again!) for this strange reason.

Thanks MamaKat! Yes I'd love that!! Good luck to you as well!!
HiI applied to the ABSN and ELMSN program. I am waitlisted for the absn program San Mateo but have not heard anything about the masters program.
I wanted to know if I would hear anything from the Sacramento absn program? Or am I only considered for the one I put for my first preference?
If you put Sacramento as your second choice then yes, you would be considered. If you left your second choice open, then no, I don't believe you would. I think Boogalooga getting into San Mateo when's Sac was listed as the first choice was a glitch or some kind of error. I don't think they would typically add you into a program you didn't say you wanted.
