Samuel Merritt ABSN San Francisco

I am currently taking the prerequisite courses and planing to submit my application as soon as I finish the courses, but I am now working 3 day a week, sometimes 2 days in order to support myself. I am wondering whether I am still able to work part-time if I got accepted, does any of you guys worked while you were in the program? Thanks.

hi all,

I received an acceptance call today....still in shock....but a good shock

after I learned the news, my first call was to the financial aid office to figure out how to pay for it :twocents:....will surely be pinching pennies now!

hang in there and good luck to everybody!

Oh my gosh... Congrats carolc415!!! I am just dying here.... Staring at my phone, willing it to ring! This is 100x worse that waiting for a boy to call!!! I wonder how many people they called today??? carolc415, does your last name start with C? Are they going alphabetically? I AM FREAKING OUT!!!

Good job to slw510 as well, #4 on the waitlist is not a bad place to be!

Good luck everyone!!! I'll post if I get any news!!!

I am also dying. Wishing the phone to ring, 35 units of pre-reqs and 4 months of waiting and no phone call. I'd love to know people's stats who got in, at least it could give me an idea where I stand. I think they've gone home for the day too so another night of wondering if the phone will ring or a letter will show up in the mail. Gees.

LOL...lunaflaura take a deep breath, I was actually at a doctor's appointment and couldn't answer the phone so it turned out to be a voicemail. I was like, "is that a marketing call?" because I didn't recognize the number!

yes, my last name is 'C' but who KNOWS what their strategy is for notifying everyone.

am crossing my fingers for all of you!

Oh man, I'm started to get worried! I've really felt like I've done everything right that I possibly could, and would be really disappointed (confused and paranoid) if I did not get accepted. Ugh... here's to hoping the rest of us get calls tomorrow... and the remainder of the week.

I think the best thing to do at this point is make myself a margarita and try to relax!

Thanks, Blustar46 - #4 is definitely better than a "no" and not nearly as satisfying as a "yes", and still leaves my future way up in the air.

You asked for my stats and I'll tell you what I know, but I am CONVINCED that they look at the whole package, especially life experience that can't be graded or scored. Everyone I know who has gotten into other cohorts has experience that proves they are mature, able to roll with the punches, and if they don't have experience in the medical field, they make a convincing case regarding why they want in now.

As far as numbers: NET-90, B.A. GPA 3.2 (in 1996-do the math), 3.9 GPA of last 60 units with about half of the courses done and the rest "in progress". I'm finishing up Patho and Pharm right now. At the time the app. was due I had just begun volunteering in the county hospital in Oakland.

I REALLY want to get into SF and get this show on the road, but if I have to reapply to San Mateo, it won't be the end of the world - it just gives me more time to acquire more medical experience and all my coursework will be complete...

Congrats to Carol and good luck to everyone!

SO. Who has an idea if they've made ALL the calls today or not? Anyone??? Someone on here got a waitlist call. So I'm definitely freaking out.. because if their logic is to make acceptance calls then make waitlist calls... then we should be over this. OMG OMG OMG. Does anyone know if ALL the calls are made in one day?

Blustar- When I was called me around 2pm today I was told several people were calling the 48 accepted...

SLW510, thanks for the reply. I was wondering if they completed all the calls yet.... Or will the calls be spread out over the two days? (Wednesday, tomorrow).

I am hoping that they are spreading calls out over two days but I would think they would have time to call everyone in that time span. I think I'm losing hope...I have a GPA from college 10 years ago that kind of holds me down but to my benefit all the classes are complete. I hope to hear more tomorrow.

Ugh... I hear you. My science GPA was 3.9, a NET of 93, and I spent 1.5 years volunteering at ERs around SF, including SF General (those were where my letters of recommendation came from). Maybe not getting in to Samuel Merritt is the way it's supposed to happen for me, but I'm having a hard time accepting that at this time. Still hoping...

I feel ya aldeur. Honestly I am sitting just above a 3.0 in my gpa on both sides, I try really hard but I am the queen of B's. (Not to mention graduating from Chico State didn't help me) I don't have a lot of healthcare experience because I have a 3 year old and school took up almost all of my time. I have a BS in Health Education and my NET was 86. I am trying to wrap my brain around my next move but maybe tomorrow I'll be better prepared :)
