Hi, I have applied to Samuel Merritt and was wondering if anyone who already knows the process could explain it all to me. The admissions process, any interview required, notices of acceptance/rejection.
Also, I was told that the program is divided into 5 terms, but the Academic Calendar on the site only gives dates for Spring, Summer, and Fall semesters. How are the terms divided up. I was told the first and last are short while the middle ones are much longer, but I would like to know approximate dates.
Thank you
I haven't been technically accepted, but I just got placed 3rd on the waitlist for Sac. I was told that typically 8 from the waitlist end up in the program. So I'll be moving up to Sac in Jan if that happens. I'm pretty scared about the housing search, too.
I'm from Sacramento and there's actually a lot of housing in that area. There are some really nice apartments right across from SMC (I took physiology in the same building). I'm not sure how much they cost but you can't find a better location-walking distance- since traffic in Sac is pretty horrible.
hurleygrly137, at #3 on the waitlist I'm almost positive you'll get in. I'm currently in the Sac ABSN program, and our class had someone who was #7 on last years waitlist, who got in.
That's good news to hear! Do you know about how late they finally got the call saying there was an open spot?? Obviously, the sooner the better!
He got the call abut 2-3 days before classes started. And he was commuting from RENO.
Don't be alarmed if things don't happen quickly. SMC is quite under-resourced in admin staff, and sometimes they can't process apps and push paper quickly. But they'll let you know as soon as they know. Also, Lisa only works part-time at SMC. So sometimes it takes a while before she gets back to you. I'm sure you'll hear before the November orientation.
I JUST GOT ACCEPTED YESTERDAY!!!!!!Hey are any of you accepted people on Facebook. I thought it'd be neat to set up a group there so we could have a centralized place for us to keep in contact until and throughout the school year.
:-) Let me know what you guys think.
CONGRATS!! That's so exciting. I am applying for Sacramento Jan 2010. Do you mind telling me what your NET score was? I just took it and got a 90 composite, just wanting to see if that is a competitive score to get in.

My composite was 94 and my Percentile was 99. However, I didn't have the greatest of GPA. I can't recall what it was or which GPA they use, though.

Hey, I'm in the '08 Sac absn class, and I would definitely be careful of the apartments on West El Camino, on the east side of I-5. I'm at Natomas Ridge (aka Tamaron Ranch, aka Discovery Cove), and we've had three shootings this year. They change the name after each shooting.
Stay on the west side of I-5, closer to campus. When I checked, the Adagio was the highest at $1,165/1BR. But there are a half dozen others which are more reasonable and a lot safer (better security). After dark, the area gets a bit sketchy. And you will have night clinicals.
