Hi, I have applied to Samuel Merritt and was wondering if anyone who already knows the process could explain it all to me. The admissions process, any interview required, notices of acceptance/rejection.
Also, I was told that the program is divided into 5 terms, but the Academic Calendar on the site only gives dates for Spring, Summer, and Fall semesters. How are the terms divided up. I was told the first and last are short while the middle ones are much longer, but I would like to know approximate dates.
Thank you
Hi there!
this is my first time posting something here. So applications are said to be received early this week. I haven't gotten anything yet. So I'm cross my heart that I get something tomorrow. I hope they send letters regarding acceptance, waitlist, rejection. It just sucks not knowing.
As for interview for the ABSN program. There is no interview I was told my the admission office.
GOOOD LUCK! tell me if you get any news so I can compare my status:).:wink2:
HI EVERYONE!has anyone gotten letters from samuel merritt for Jan 2009??
I haven't gotten one yet. Apparently all the accepted students have already been notified. That's what they've been doing the last two weeks. I'm really upset because I feel I had a really strong application packet, but my application was just incomplete because the two teachers I had asked for letters of reference had failed to turn them in in a timely fashion. I gave it to them over a month ago and when i called last week one said she was still working on it, while the other one just never picked up, nor has she yet. I ended up having to call another professor and ask for the huge favor of writing a last minute reference and letter. So my letters just barely got in last week on Thu and Fri. AH!!! It made me so mad. Now I can only hope for a high placement on the wait-list and hope I get in that way.
hellophuo21,
I was about to repost what i wrote in the other thread but just realized that I was replying back to you in that one as well. :) So as I had stated, all the accepted students already know (from what Liza told me), they are making a wait-list, but haven't yet ranked it and they will be notifying students to let them know if they're on a wait-list and I guess the ranking. I guess after all that is done they'll let rejected applicants know. I don't know when they'll have the wait-list ranked but I hope really soon. I've been so on-edge recently. Way too many things going on this summer.
It's true. It really sucks not knowing.

yeah I talked to Lisa @ Sac, not Lizzie, who is in Oakland) last week and this monday. 2 weeks ago they called half the accepted applicants. Last week they called the 2nd half of the accepted ppl. She never said what they're doing about those who are ineligible or definitely not accepted, but i guess we're now waiting on wait-list order. She said some ppl who have been accepted may still not make it if they don't finished the pre-reqs, while others may just decline the acceptance because maybe they are also getting accepted elsewhere. She told me in an email that in Sacramento, about 8 from the wait-list usually end up in the program. Which campus are you applying to? I chose Sac, then San Mateo for 2nd.

is this the same for SAN Mateo campus? I chose San Mateo then Sac. I've received one email regarding San Mateo, and it mention nothing about SAC. The email was recieved on Oct. 1 and only mentioned that they would send out letter for San mateo early this week. But since it's not longer early this week and it's thursday, I doubt I get anything but bad news. heh I feel like this is a slower version of aim. sorry for posting so much...I'm just soo sad and I need answers heh. Thankyou for your help!:wink2:
no worries, I've been on here every day multiple times trying to get more information , too. I'm not sure the numbers would be the same for the San Mateo campus but I would imagine the other info is since they have the same start date. I've been communicating mostly with Lisa Osoteo by email and phone and she is very good about answering questions and giving a little more info. Do they have someone specifically for San Mateo? Or is that Lizzie Mayo. I've only emailed Lizzie when I was checking if my references came in. She was good at responding. One thing I did find was that it seems they won't really tell you anything unless you take the initiative and ask (email/call) yourself. If you leave a voicemail, I'd suggest calling again later. I've never gotten a call back from leaving a voicemail.

so I just called Lizze, she said that they would send out a denial letter, acceptance, or waitlisted. Have you gotten a denial letter? If not u may be waitlisted. Mail didn't come today:( so we'll see if tomrrow is any luck.
I am in the current Sac ABSN program, and we didn't find out if we were accepted until November, so be patient. I know that the school is still accepting applications, so I wouldn't worry at all if you haven't heard anything. As far as the schedule, it is broken up into three semesters and most classes are 5 weeks long. It starts with health assessment then 10 weeks of med surg. Then second semester is critical care, L & D, then peds, each 5 weeks. Third semester is mental health and community health together for ten weeks (we are finishing now), and then 5 weeks of preceptorship in a specialty area. That's it! It flies by but it is manageable, especially because we all know how to study and take tests, etc... If you get in, just take it a week at a time a don't stress!! Try to avoid people who have high stress levels because it will wear you down. Oh, and you will do about 567 group projects, so try to be with people you work well with. Best of luck!

Hi, I was just wondering who has already gotten accepted into the January ABSN program for SMC. Are you guys accepting or deciding to go else where? Or is anyone being placed on the wait-list?
I sent my app in about about a month ago, but unfortunately had issues with my professors sending in my letters of reference in a timely fashion, so as a result, I may be wait-listed at best.
Those who have been accepted, was there an interview at all? What is the next step now for you guys? I'm very curious and am still hoping I may make it in and join you all.
