Hello,
Is anyone out there applying to SHSU's Fall BSN program?
I have talked to a few women in the nursing department and it seems they are confused I keep getting different stories!! lol I am being told teas is 35 points gpa is 45 points then you get 10 points for 24 hours at shsu and 10 points if you have a degree already. They send acceptance letters to 55 but usually 10-15 decline. They also use overall gpa to calculate your points not science.
Did you get that information from ****? **** is the actual main person who determines who gets accepted (at least that is what she told me when I had a face to face meeting with her). She said that SHSU takes the 1st top 40 applicants. Then from there sometimes people that they send acceptance letters to will end up not accepting because many people apply to more than just one school and end up getting accepted somewhere else. She said that last semester about 10 people declined their acceptance because they were accepted somewhere else. So then they ended up taking the next top 10 people. She even added that 2 more people didn't show up on orientation day and SHSU ended up calling in 2 more people from the "no" list.
I called again today and talked to **** about everything. I told her what **** said and she said that **** does not decide who gets in it is ****, and two others (forgot names one was another dr) And GPA is 45 points, TEAS 35, also there are only 150 applicants not 300. It's hard to know what to believe though when we keep getting different stories lol

Hi all! I just wanted to make a correction on how SHSU selects their applicants. I spoke with **** today. She said that how applicants are selected comes straight from a 100 point scale: 50% comes from science and cumulative GPA and the other 50% comes from TEAS V scores. Applicants can also earn an extra 10 points if they have taken 36+ hrs at SHSU. Also, as of today she said that they have about 300 applicants and out of those only 40 will be accepted. I hope this helps! Good luck to everyone :-)
