Hello,
Is anyone out there applying to SHSU's Fall BSN program?
This semester will be my first semester as a Sam student. The people who I have been in contact have not mentioned anything about the competitive GPA range, but I was told that my TEAS score was very competitive at 88. Not sure if they put more emphasis on GPA or test scores though. Also, you get extra points if you've completed 24hrs at Sam already or if you already have a bachelors degree. That's all I really know at this point :/
I am a sam student. Colvin told me a 3.58 gpa, but on here people are saying Turner told them a 3.3 is competitive. I also saw on this blog that people go accepted this past semester with a 3.4 which is why I was wondering. I was told that a good teas score is high 70s/low 80s, so your score is really good! (Im taking the teas at the end of this month, any tips? I have been using the teas study guide too.) Let me know if you hear anything else! Thanks for the feedback.
I used the TEAS study guide and quizlet. I just brushed up on everything that I learned in A&P and chemistry and watched YouTube videos to learn some of the more difficult concepts. I noticed that people with 3.4 GPAs were getting in and I was wondering if that was because it was for spring admission and it is less competitive or if 3.4 is good enough for fall as well. I hope so because I only have a 3.5 overall GPA right now. I still have time to retake a class and bring it up before June, but I haven't decided if I will or not.
Oh I didnt realize the 3.4 gpa was for the spring. I hope that will be good enough because I think the best I can do is a 3.47. I feel like thats borderline. It would be higher but I am not sure if they calculate classes that the nursing school doesnt require like my honors seminar and the other university course I took (had to take them because im in the honors college and I had to take the other class for a different organization I was in, but still not listed on the required courses for nursing). Im worried about the TEAS because I am not good at taking standardized tests. What class were you thinking about retaking? I retook statistics...that class was killer for me!
What is your GPA for sciences? I think they look at those classes first. I got a C in Chemistry and I know that is really going to go against me. That is the only C I have, so I will be retaking it to get an A. I took statistics (psychology) and I'm not sure if they will use that class for the prerequisite. I have to contact somebody and ask them about that. How many credits have you completed at Sam already?
When I apply I am hoping it will be a 3.68 but right now it is a 3.5. Right now my overall is a 3.26 and I am hoping it will be a 3.47. I mentioned before that I have two other classes under my belt but I am not sure if they will be calculated into my overall since they are extra and not listed on the pre recs, or my gpa would be better. I dont think they take the stats class you took (only because I herd someone say they took it and it didnt count). I got a B in chem. How I dont know. I think I got a C in the class but since I got an A in the lab it brought me to a B. I have completed 33 hours so far, but after this semester I will have done 49 hours at Sam. The rest I did in high school as dual credit and at lonestar during the summer/winter minimester. I am taking microbiology in May as a minimester at lonestar then I will be done with everything. What are you taking here at Sam this semester?
