hi kellink,
here in the twin cities hospitals pay entry level nurses about $24 to $25 per hour. :chuckle as of may 2005, the fairview "chain" of hospitals pay an associate degree nurse $24.35, and a bachelors nurse, any bachelors degree, $25.20 to start. not to shabby for a rookie employee. they also have tuition reimbursement at many twin cities hospitals, up to $10,000. on the down side, the severe shortage of nurses seems to be over in mn. the word on the street is that the "market" is cooling for rn's. snoopd
:balloons: hello guys!! i am new to this board, but want to start a survey, or at least reply, you don't have to give your name. i am a current student in lpn school, but want to do a survey on pay, which would probably be helpful to a majority of people.1. state your city you live in
2. what kind of nursing care you do
3. lpn/lvn/rn
4. rate of pay
maybe some of us new nursing students can get an idea of what we're looking at! thanks
:chuckle
as you can see from my tag line, salaries here run the gamut but are still lower than our neighbors in Ohio, Virginia, or Pennsylvania no matter RN or LPN.
Charleston pays better than most areas, new grad at 17.00 for RN. LPN are around 9.50 to 10.00. As the years roll by the salary does not increase too quickly. After 20 years a nurse, depending on where she works, can expect to be making 22.00 to 28.00 with benefits. LPN do better in the nursing homes, around 18.00 with benefits. Now if you do not need benefits then it can be 32.00 to 36 or more. But you are the first to be called off.
Hope this helps.
Kellink
