  1. I'm an experianced nurse and I find this funny. It is ment has a satire of life. Face it some of the points are true. Face it how quickly do you resond to the alarms and bells on the unit. Some of the things relate to deligation of jobs and time management not laziness.
  2. Pay ranges based on longjevity. New RN's make about $30/hr. range with 18Yrs. it is about $38/hr.
  3. The nurses are going through school graduating, many even take the boards. Where do they go after that? That is the question in New York over a 10 yr period we graduated over 125,000 nurses less then 40,000 took the boards and even less entered the work force. If you ask me it is the lack of respect from the general public, the ever increasing work load and the lack of pay for what we do. Take for example my Brother in Law is a food and beverage director he makes over $125,000 to make sure your food is good and coke is not flat. The Nation puts a greater value on its entertainment than it's safety and health. This is shown by the salaries of ball players who do DRUGS and are told it's alright we forgive you. The actors who can not act get paid obscene amounts of money. All we do is save lives, but remember if you make a mistake you will be SUED. We get assulted and are told by our administration not to press charges and if you do you are on your own.

Be confident in yourself and know the reason that you are doing a task. If you make a mistake admit to it don't try to hide it. That is the worst thing you can do. If you don't know something ask. The only stupid question is the one you did not ask and got yourself in trouble with.
  5. To the best of my knowledge you have to be an R.N. to do an inital assessment on a patient. This would precude L.P.N.'s and ER techs. I'm not sure whos rule it is JACHO or NYSDOH but in our E.R. only and R.N. with more than 1 year E.R. experience is allow to work triage.

Remember the glass returnable COKE bottles. They create quite a vacum when inserted up ones rectum when your boy friend is out of town. It took the Colorectal surgen about 45 minutes to get the bottle out finaly we drilled a small hole in the bottom using a masonary drill bit.

The course is not hard do not stress yourself. The self induced stress is worse than the course. If you can manage a trauma patient alone you will do fine in the course and on the tests at the end. Remember they are not out there to fail you they are there to help you learn and build your confidence.
