  1. that is the best thing I have heard anyone say yet. Very good words.
  2. I guess it would get boring just passing out pills all day. Luckily I work in a skilled nursing facility, mostly geriatrics, but we do have a variety of all ages there. I use most of my skills I learned in nursing school. My job is exciting yet stressful at times. I have a very demanding job. My advice to you is, if you like working with geriatrics, perhaps you need to find a skilled nursing facility as I have. It's worth it..
  3. For myself, discovering where I wanted to work was easy. After going from one clinical place to the next. Working with peds, ob/gyn, rehab, med/surg, and geriatrics.... I learned I love geriatrics. My heart is with the elderly. If you are in nursing school, you will find what you love as well with each clinical experience. Good luck and God Bless
  4. In Oklahoma, an LPN can start out at $14.00/HR. and that is for the day shift, night shift is about $2.00 higher, depending on where you go. I know of a hospital in Oklahoma City where an LPN on nights started off at around $17.00-$18.00/HR
  5. Hi Dokkskie I pray that you pass. I know it's frustrating and stressful waiting for your results of the test. It took me only 2 days until I found out, I wish other states were as fast as Oklahoma when it comes to the results. I just knew I had failed the test, I could feel it down to my bones that I failed, and I surprised myself. I guess everyone assumes they failed. You will be in my prayers..
  6. Hi, I am new here. I came across this post about CNA's passing out medications. So, it's CNA's, not CMA's passing out med's?? What a scary thought. What if a patient is on Digoxin (and other meds similar), does that CNA know what to assess before giving that med, and what to watch for after she has given it?? These are questions I have.. This is putting the patients in danger. Just my opinion
  7. Thank you both for replying back. I went from being happy, to being in denial, then I couldn't sleep at all last night. You asked where I plan on working... Well, most people tell me to go for Med-Surg because that is where I will obtain alot of experience and skills, but my heart lies with the elderly and disabled children. I have a huge soft heart, and my friends who are nurses think I am absolutely crazy for wanting to go into that field. A nice drink sounds good about now. :)
  8. thank you graduatenurse. :) :) :) its time to celebrate.
  9. Just got my results. Found out I PASSED. I am soo happy. I still don't know how I did it, but I did.
  10. Hi dokkskie, I just read yours and everyone elses post. I took my Nclex on Monday Aug 30. I went to my car and cried. I JUST knew I had failed, I felt so dumb. I was like you, seemed like I had guessed at all my answers. Today, Sept 1.. I just found out I passed. I know it's hard waiting for the results, but you may be surprised, just as I was. I have had so much support between friends and family. I realized that if I was to fail, I would know what to study, how to study, and I would pass the 2nd time. My prayers will be with you, I know this is a difficult time waiting for the results. God Bless
  11. Hi PeruvianNurse.. Thank you for replying back. I don't know how many questions I had. I never did see a counter to tell me which question number I was on. At the end of the test, it did not display the number of questions either. The test did pound me with alot of mental health questions, which is one of my weaker subjects. My director of nursing at the school, told me that the nclex was mostly about saftey for the patient, but there was not one question regarding saftey for the patient in any form of way. It asked me questions that I did not know, and when I got home, I looked it up in the NCLEX book, and it did not mention anything about the questions it had asked me. It also asked about Nutrition. All I know is I hope I passed.. I fear taking this test again.
  12. Hi everyone, I am new here to this site. I just took my NCLEX-PN and I haven't found out the results yet. I have no clue as to how many questions I had on my test since I did not see a counting number. I can say it was the hardest test I have taken yet. I graduated nursing school with a 92 average, and when I got done testing, it left me feeling so dumb. I don't know how I did. The questions it was throwing at me seems to be nothing that I learned in school. Before my exam started, it had said something about you had to pass with 95% accuracy. When you all went in to take your test, did you leave feeling like you failed or passed? Just curious.. I am so nervous right now, hopefully I'll get my results back soon.
