I was offered a position at a Rehabilitation Center as a LPN for $13.00hr and after I graduate in May and hopefully pass my RN boards, they are willing to bump me up to $19.00 - $20.50/hr. They thought it was a win-win due to the fact they could train me using my LPN for my RN position which was cheaper for them. I will be working weekends and with second shift will get a .50/hr bump and third $1.00/hr bump. Does this wage sound reasonable for my first RN position? I live in northern Wisconsin and employers don't like sharing what the average wage is for their RNs.

Can you check salary.com or your local workforce office? I know that smaller towns in northern MN was much lower than Duluth; St. Cloud and Minneapolis are very similar for new grads. While I think that seems low, I do know that it's not unusual to see a rather large difference (up to $10) between the areas. With that said - as a rehab RN, I make as much as the RNs on other floors in my hospital. Good luck!
Thanks, I'll check it out.

The 20.50 does not sound terrible considering it would be your first job as an RN, IF the benefits are very good, and an increase would be in the near future. There are areas where RNs do not start out as high as others, wages vary widely across the country. If you really like where you work, and you see potential for advancement, you could begin your RN career there and reassess the situation after you have a year of experience. Really liking your job, the people, having a short commute, great benefits...these things are valuable and not always present with a higher paying job. Without more info, that's my input

Forgot to mention, I'm working in Oshkosh

I'm a new grad working in Virginia, and base pay is $24/hr. However, I work 3-11 shift so I make $28/hr and $29/hr on weekends. Plus excellent benefits!
