Salary expectations for a US NICU nurse in the Middle East

Published

Hi,

I was wondering if anybody has any updates on what type of salary can I negotiate for in UAE or Qatar? Most of the posts I read were a bit outdated.

I am a NICU RN with a BSN (recent) and 9 years experience...any help would be appreciated.

Also, is it advisable to go through a recruiting agency versus contacting the Hospitals myself? Which would come out to be in my best interest?

Thanks!!

Recently got back from Bahrain.... I had an RN friend who was making 100bd which is about 260$ a month....and she had some experience as well. Although is hard to admit it, nurses from the West make more than the ones from the East ( Asia), however they don' t make that much either. Had an American (rn) friend who worked for a private ( royal ) hospital and made about 500bd ( which is a little over 1000$).my personal opinion: you should let them put the offer on the table first...

Thanks gya15! I appreciate the info ;) so far the only "real" offer I turned down was for half of what I make here in the US and they wanted me to pay for my own housing, naturally, I rejected the offer.

chile please..i dont know where you got your numbers. as an american trained nurse you can atleast expect to make a minimum of 65k/yr with housing as a single status non managerial position. if you go to saudi you may be able to get more.

those numbers you gave are maybe filipino pay but an american? i highly doubt it..not for the uae, saudi, qatar or kuwait.

What a rude way of replying to a post! Are you currently working in the Middle East? Have you talked to nurses that work in the Golf region? I just gave two examples that I personally know.

my mother is a recruiter that primarily services the middle east in the agency she works for primarily...that is how i know.she negotiates their contracts, and goes back and forth between her clients and the hospitals when there are issues. I hear her giving the package info all the time when she works from home..some countries are a bit more than others but for non managerial positions i have noticed the pay is around the amount i stated.

I want a recruiter that will negotiate for me like that. So far, the offers have been ridiculously low for the positions they want filled. I cannot help but to wonder if it is in part the recruiter who wants to make a greater commission.

Per our terms of service we do not allow soliciting for recruiters on AN. Thanks
