Hi guys,

can anyone tell me about Saint Vincentsubscribed.gif Medical Centers School of Nursing of Queens such as how far does the admission requirements go for transfer students for ex. overall GPA need to be maintained and such, entrance exams?

MARYANN WHAT NURSING SCHOOL ARE YOU CURRENTLY ATTENDING?:twocents:

I'm taking pre-req's at NCC. I'm still waiting to hear back from Molloy or Adelphi. Where are you attending nursing school & how do you like it?

so wait... st Vincents is not accredited?? but when youre planning to take your education further to BSN.. colleges will still take your nursing courses from st vincents?

They are not NLN accredited. This does not mean the college credits are non-transferrable. NLN has nothing to do with college credits transferring from one school to another. The state of NY has granted the school dregree granting privileges, that is what you need.

If the NLN accreditation is not required in order to take the state exam nor to find a job later, then what is its purpose? I've only been looking for colleges that have that (NLN) accreditation. So it's not really necessary??

im going to NCC in september and they dont require the NLN

Really the NLN is similiar to the SATs ..If everyone is applying to a certain school its to screen out whos got a certain strength and weakness. One school isnt necessarily better than another because they require the NLN. Look at LICHSON

Specializes in Oncology, ICU.

I graduated from SVCMC 2007, will be starting my BSN in the fall, Adlephi and Suny downstate have both accepted all my RN classes. I thought the program was great and very affordable compared to many other schools (Adelphi = $25k per school year). I have a job I really love at Memorial Sloan Kettering and am working and earning the same salary as grads from NYU, Molloy, Adelphi, etc. If you earn your associates and work for your BSN, most hospitals have tuition reimbursement. At my hospital we get $10k per year tuition reimbursement. If you are fortunate enough to be accepted to SVCMC, you should go. Best of luck to all!!!

NLN accreditation and the entrance exam are two different things. SVCMC has a different entrance exam, not the NLN. They used to use the NLN exam but have switched their entrance exam.

It's sort of like a 'seal of approval', if you will. Like Magnet. basically, the National League for Nurses is saying that they think you are a good nursing school. It doen't mean that you are not a good nursing school, it's just that either you have not gone through the time, effort or money to go through the approval process (or you did nmot get approved).
