Hello future Nurses!!! ??⚕️??⚕️??⚕️
I will be applying to saddlebacks nursing program in the fall of 2020.
Finishing my last prerequisite, Microbiology @ IVC.
Anyone else applying to saddleback fall 2020??

Just make sure you do let the first school know if you make that decision. That’s why every school has 10-20 alternates. At the end of the day we can only attend one program. If you’re blessed enough to have more than one acceptance after thinking you should decide on one. It will solidify your plan and also help an alternate who's waiting to get an opportunity to be in a nursing program.
They always have encouraged us to apply to more than one school especially in California due to how impacted it is. So they understand and anticipate people to change their minds whether it’s due to school preferences, financial reasons, or even choosing a school that’s closer to you. That’s just my advice though ? Wish you and all of us in this thread good luck and hopefully a response in the next week.
Well said!
I agree 100% ??
Hey! I'm currently a 2nd semester student at saddleback, and wanted to give you a little update. I'm sure you're all super nervous about finding out if you got accepted. For myself, I believe I was accepted with about 79 points, with 1000 hrs CNA experience and all B's in science prereqs.
-Our clinical sites are still pending for fall, we have not heard about when we will be going back to the hospital.
-We may be able to go to practice for our required skills days in small groups. 1st semester has 4 days of skills days within first two weeks.
-All lectures will be held online.
I'm happy to answer any questions!

Thank you for posting! How was it transitioning from the classroom to online? Are the class meetings weekly and live on set days/times, or are they at your own pace?

Lecture is always going to be on Wednesday. Our professors now record the powerpoint slides and their lecture and post it on online. You watch the lectures at your own pace, but they do take roughly about 2-3 hours and they provide detailed lecture notes. We have a weekly Q&A session on Wednesday’s from 10-11:30, so it is expected you have already watched the lecture and took notes. The professor does a quick overview and answers questions. As for clinical(depending on your assigned clinical day), we used online case studies and a program called V-sim, which is an online simulation program with different medical/surgical scenarios, and there are questions you must answer before and after. Those simulations and assignments would take roughly 4 or so hours each, and on some clinical days we had 2.

More of a personal question. Are you working as well? If I get into this program, I would be commuting about one hour each way for clinicals. Lectures being online does definitely help. I work in San Diego, but think that doing clinicals and working in San Diego (16-24 hours per week) would be very taxing and I would get burned out quickly.
I've done the whole full-time work and full-time course load for years. My mental health is a priority and I want to do well in these courses, aiming for straight As as I intend to obtain more advanced degrees.
What are your thoughts?

Thank you so much! Your response already makes me feel better! I will likely have to do that. Good luck to everyone!
