Sacramento ELMSN/ABSN...Anyone applying?

Published

Hi everyone,

I am getting ready to send in my application for both programs the deadline is July 1st for fall 2007. Is anyone else applying to these programs? I am curious as to any information you may have heard regarding competitive gpa's, number of applicants, what they want in the personal statement etc., I have decent grades, six years experience as a paramedic and I completed the first semester of a JC nursing program with a 3.00 six years ago. I'm really nervous about the application procedure especially the essay. Any comments or advice would be greatly appreciated...

Congratulations NoDean!! :balloons: :lol2: That is so Awesome!! I just joined this panel and it is good to see someone else applying (and now getting into) the Sacramento ELMNS program. I too was interviewed Aug 2nd :) Ya I know the competition is tough- one of my letter writers told me some of his other top Anatomy students (who were at the top of everything they did) were denied admission in years past - he said he wasn't sure how they picked the applicants!! Hope to see you in the spring!!

Hi starglitter,

Thank you so much!!! I was really surprised... I hope you get the call!!! Describe yourself to me.. Where were you sitting? Talk to you soon...

I read the blog and know that woman. She has a good outlook and its fun being in class with her. I should update my original post. Alot of negative administrative stuff was happening to everyone at the beginning of the program..Everyone was having problems. It was very frustrating. Since then we have be described as "complaining alot". I dont know, maybe people feel like they are paying 50,000 dolllars for a years worth of education and theat actually deserves that the school will correctly update your address when you change it or not be rude to you on the phone or that they wont accidently send out everyones admission's entry statistics (net scores, gpa, interview score) in one mass email to all the students...

I have since had an improved outlook on the program. I spoke to one of the faculty and am so focused on the actual nursing part of the experience that I dont even have time to complain about the rest of it. I would just advise that if you enter this program to definitely expect the administration to mess some things up at the beginning of your year. But stay focused on your passion and it will work itself out. good luck to all

I applied for the ABSN for Samuel Merritt in Sacramento. Has anyone heard back yet?

Hey Nodean,

Ya getting early admit is quite the acheivement according to my friend. She had her interview yesterday and they were told the only people to get early admit are those who have a perfect score, or a total of 105 points. Everyone else below 105 gets ranked in with all of the other interview applicants to fill the remaining seats. I wonder how many other early admits there were?

Oh btw... I didn't go to the group interview(which after hearing my friend's experience I am kind of glad) - I had a one on one interview so I wouldn't have seen you. I only saw a few people afterward because my interviwer introduced me to some current students near where you guys were having lunch. So I think I met one applicant who came out of the lunch room and knew one of the students I was talking to.

Ya I can't wait to get the news everyone seems so happy there and they said they really did get recruited right away!

Nodean, congratulations! I know the feeling and I am shocked as well. I attended the interview for ELMSN FNP (in Sac) Aug. 8 and received an early admit call that night too! What a rush, but I feel so relieved (don't think I could've survived the agonizing wait until notifications in Oct.)

I am interested in the stats of this admissions round. The group interview was unique and relaxing. I was pretty sure they had a good idea of who they were accepting before the interviews, but it was an experience.

Good to meet (sort of) a classmate. See you in Jan!

Congrats, for those of you who were accepted... and good luck, for those of you who are still waiting! =)

Thanks everyone! Starglitter, I hope you get the call soon.

Samuel Merritt finally called me yesterday afternoon and invited me to an interview for the ABSN program! I am so excited! We'll see how it goes in two weeks.
