Sac State Nursing for Spring 2018

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Is anyone here applying in October for Spring 2018 nursing program at Sac State? I know this is the last semester to apply for the older criteria and CSUS will be changing the selection criteria for Fall 2018. What's your gpa? Teas score? points? I haven't taken the teas yet and I'm super nervous.

It's actually nothing like I was expecting! I had heard so many horror stories about how difficult nursing school was and how I would have no life or time for anything and it's not like that at all. Don't get me wrong, it's definitley busy and I'm almost constantly thinking about school, but it doesn't feel like I'm drowning either. The faculty at sac state are absolutely amazing and every single person in this program is so supportive. Your cohort and especially your section of 10 will become your family almost instantly and going to school everyday is actually something you'll want to do.

When are you all supposed to find out if you're in or not??

Thank you, that's so reassuring!

We get an official admission decision November 27th but I think we are getting an update either today or tomorrow about the point cut off.

Aksp, where did you get the information that the official decision is on Nov 27th? Last year in the update email they informed students they would know by Nov 18. The 27 seems so late to me, especially with all the pre admission stuff to get together like financial aide, ect.

I am stressing over here.

How realistic is a 4.0? At least for the first semester

The school of Nursing said it's a tentative date but it will most likely be the last week of November. I remember seeing November 27th on the application instructions. So it could be slightly before November 27th or as late as November 30th. There's no guarantee but it should be around that date because that's around the time when registration opens.

Besides, there's been a lot of mixed signals/information lately so I'm not completely sure what's going on anymore. Supposedly more people applied than usual, they moved to an online format, etc, etc. So I'm not sure what to expect.

Its definitely doable, but also it really isn't important once you're in. I know that probably sounds crazy to you because grades mean everything to get into these programs and are something you work hard for and are proud of. In nursing school though the tests are a different format then what you're used to and no matter how many hours you study it comes down to a new level of critical thinking that comes with nursing experience. B's are totally okay once you're here! Faculty and older semesters will tell you that from the second you walk into the building.

A lot of us have gotten A's on all our exams, but the majority of the cohort get B's and thats still an amazing grade in nursing school! I really would not stress about the grades, as long as you work hard and learn/understand the material you'll be an awesome nurse.

dontstopbelievin, might i please ask how early in the semester you had to submit proof of titers and immunization?

Mine was different because I had the summer to do stuff, but youll definitely have to have it all done before the third week for clinicals! If you can start organizing your immunizations now do it because it'll help a ton. The entry checklist looks terrifying when you first get it but it's not hard, just takes a lot of signing up for things and organizing paperwork.

I'm only concerned because I'll be applying for a Masters program

At this point, I'm guessing we should be getting an update by tomorrow evening. We'll see though!

I have been refreshing my email every 15 mins! Good to know everything will be finalized by the end of this month!
