Hello Everyone,
I am about to send in my application to CSU Sacramento for Fall 13 and was wondering if there are any other people in the same predicament. Would love love to hear your experiences as well.
Georgette:
When I do information sessions this question comes up a lot. For the Health related experience, they really just want your volunteer time to be "around" patient care. That way you are exposed to it and can decide if it is for you or not. They don't want to accept students into the program who are just going to quit. Most hospitals only allow volunteers to do paperwork, run errands, greet, and maybe a bed bath or something like that. If your 100 hours is in a hospital setting than more than likely it will count for those 3 pts (unless it was in the gift shop).

Well I volunteered 3 years ago in the same hospital... but in a different department. Back then, they let me go into patient rooms so I could ask them about what they would like to have for breakfast/lunch/dinner the next day. I think that would be more in line with the whole being exposed to patient care. However, they don't allow volunteers to do that anymore. I was able to do 50 hours at the time but I'm not sure if Sac State has a recency requirement in terms of when my hours were done... I just hope they will take the hours I'm doing now

Georgettes- in my opinion, it doesn't sound like that would count. I think they want more time spent one on one with patients. The only for sure way to found out though would be to directly ask them.
