Starting a thread for applicants to the Rutgers DNP FNP program for the Fall 2015 semester. Who has applied? When do we usually hear back?

I really wish the best for you both. I am currently in Drexel's PMHNP program which is does not offer the DNP. I am currently trying to get a course layout for Rutgers that shows what classes are online and which I have to drive to Newark for😩

Why wouldn't you just finish the Drexel program and do a DNP later?
Three reasons: cost, time, and curriculum. Rutgers BSN to DNP program is 77 credits. Drexel does not have such a program so one would have to complete both degrees separately as you suggest. At Drexel, this would mean completing 52 credits for your MSN and 46 for your DNP (98 total). Also Rutgers has a serious psychiatric focus, if you download and compare the two curriculums it will stand out like a sore thumb.

Hey yall!
Congrats to you all for you acceptances into Rutgers ! I am looking to apply for Fall 2016 and was wondering what you guys did regarding your two research papers. Can anyone help me out?
Congrats dro-c and RNKP1310!! orientation is July 22, will you both be there or is this just for the PMHNP PROGRAM? JC0518, I submitted two APA formatted papers from my current NP program. As long as your papers are APA formatted you will be find.
Thanks NP_HOPEFUL! Yeah, the July 22nd orientation is for PMHNP, FNP orientation is July 23rd. JC0518 I did one full-time semester of graduate nursing study in 2012 at another university, so I used a paper I had completed for an advanced nursing research course I took, as well as an independent research study I conducted in my BSN program. I did submit a third writing sample (just because, lol) which was a paper from an ethics course I also had to take. (All APA format) :)

Is anyone thinking of working while completing this program? Excuse me if this comes off as a stupid question.

Hello Everyone!
I am planning on applying to Rutgers University-Newark for their post BSN DNP/FNP program. I was wondering if anyone who has been accepted to this specific program could provide some insight on what exactly they are looking for in a candidate. For example:How many years of experience did you have as a nurse prior to applying? what was your nursing GPA? what kind of papers did you submit for the 2 required papers(how many pages, topics, etc)? If possible, could you also tell me how you like the program so far? Are you able to handle working and going through the program? Any information would be greatly appreciated. I am trying to decide if I should apply now based on my chances of getting into the program. I am currently working on a medical stepdown floor and have been a registered nurse for a year. I graduated with a 3.6 GPA from nursing school. Thank you for your time. I am looking forward to hearing back!
I am sorry for the late reply. I have 7 years experience as an RN, 1 on ortho/med/surg, 1 in ambulatory sx in PACU, and 5 as a nursing director. I applied to the FNP DNP program using two papers I wrote in my nursing theory and research classes in undergrad. They were both 5 pages long. I have a 3.75 nursing GPA. I did not plan on working at all during the program. I was admitted back in June of last year to start in the fall. However, my husband received and accepted a job offer in MA, so now I am in the process of looking for programs all over again. I wish I had been able to start and complete the program at Rutgers. It is a great school. Best of luck!
They offer part time course load for the FNP program where I believe you can work a part time at the same time. However, they do not recommend working full time especially once your practicum and theory classes start in the second year.
