Hey everyone,
I just attended the Rutgers ABSN information session this past Monday. It seems there were a couple of people applying for this upcoming fall (2016), including myself, and it was suggested that we connect! I'm applying to both campuses but hope to get into Newark at the very least since its a closer commute for me. I'm just starting the NursingCas application.
Who else is applying for this upcoming fall?
Tell us what you think of Rutgers University.
Hi everyone, I found out that the program for NB needs official transcripts for any in-progress courses by August 15th. My dilemma is that I finish my nutrition class on the August 15th. I don't think that Brookdale will be able to send out my grades or that my professor with have my grades calculated on that date. Has anyone spoken to the program regarding this or something similar? Congrats to everyone accepted!!!!!!!!!!!
@malsa - congrats!!! Do NOT worry. I had this same scare ~3 weeks ago, as I'm in my final Chem class through the 11th. I spoke to Rutgers, and they were completely understanding.
What you'll need to do is have your professor send a "mid-term"/mid-point grade, and then another final grade as soon as the course ends. They were imperative that the letter be on school letterhead, so make sure that your professor uses that to type and/or write. Then he/she can scan & e-mail to the appropriate contact. I had my professor include my name, the course code & title, confirm the end date, and provide my grade for the 1/2 mark. He also told Rutgers he'd send a final grade immediately after the course ends while the official transcript is being generated.
I would just ask the person you've been in contact with who you should receive this information. I believe the contact would be different for both campuses. On my acceptance paperwork, there was a contact listed for any questions, so I started with her.
Hope this helps. Good luck!
@dantin28, thank you! I got in touch with David before your reply (and thank you btw :) ), and he told me to make sure that I send him a screenshot of my grade at that time either on the 15th or before, because my professor posts grades online. He said that they will take the official transcript a week after if that's when the final grade will be posted but they have to have the transcript before classes start. I guess since I have less time to get it in, they are allowing me to do the whole screen shot thing? Works for me! lol
mct913: Regarding the schedule, I will copy and paste what I posted in the Newark cohort's facebook group:
So level 1 looked like this:
Monday: Off.
Tuesday: Pathophysiology 8-11 (then we'd have an hour off which we usually used for our lunch)
Foundations of Nursing 12-2
Nursing Informatics 2:30-5 (which was mostly online. Just the first and last classes were in person)
Wednesday: Culture, Lifestyle, and Health 8-11 (then another hour break aka lunch)
Health Assessment 12-2
Clinical 4:30-10:30 (for the first 7 weeks you'll be having clinical in the sim lab where you'll learn your basic nursing skills that are necessary to go to hospital clinicals. You'll be tested on these skills after the 7th week by your instructor and if you pass, you're allowed to go to hospital clinical for the remainder of the semester.)
Thursday: Off
Friday: Health Assessment Lab 12-2
*Note: My class was divided into about 8 or 9 groups of 8 people in each for clinical which was the same group I had Health Assessment lab with. The times for HA lab and clinicals varied -- the times above was my personal schedule --but some others had clinical on Saturday, Monday, and Thursday nights (i guess they just tried to have clinicals whenever we weren't in class). Hospital locations also varied. I was placed on the telemetry/oncology/dialysis floor of Raritan Bay-Old Bridge Hospital. HA lab was where we physically learned how to conduct a full head to toe assessment on a patient and that takes place in the HA lab in school.
Hope this helps!!
I wasnt there either, if someone who went to the New Brunswick orientation could please give us a summary, we would really appreciate it :) also, I have kind of a random question..i cant seem to find the New Brunswick nclex pass rates anywhere online or on the website...does anyone know what the pass rate is?
Hey everyone!
I was accepted to the campus in Camden for Fall 2016 and I'm wondering if anyone on here will be attending the Camden campus as well? I see a lot of people got accepted into the Newark/New Brunswick campus , and congrats to all of you, but I'm wondering where my Camden folks are lol . Please feel free to comment so we can get to know each other.
Thank you

@klouis001 or anyone else-- do you have any notes from orientation deemed worthy of sharing with Spring 2017 applicants? I'd be appreciative!
Congratulations to all who got in!
