Rutgers ABSN FALL 2016

I'll be applying to both both RU campuses for Fall 2016 admission, as well, with hopes of Newark.

I wasn't able to make the ABSN information session -- anything noteworthy mentioned? I'm currently processing my copious amounts of transcript requests and finalizing pre-reqs.

They basically had power point slides up and went over the information on the website. We did have a question and answer session directly afterwards where they gave us the opportunity to ask any questions we had about the program. There wasn't really anything that stood out to me that wasn't already mentioned on the site, which I already went over on my own time. The program is actually 16 months in length, and not 14 like the Rutgers site states. They also mentioned that many of the clinicals will be in central Jersey.

I also have to send transcripts from many schools. I'm trying to get everything with NursingCas done early because I heard it takes a while to process. I also have yet to finalize my references. Are you applying to any other schools in the area?

Hi! Thank you for the information on the info session. I was actually scheduled to go to the first one back in January, but it was post-poned due to the snow storm, so that was very insightful. I thought the program was 14 months, so knowing that it is in fact 16, is good to know. Did they mention anything about when was the best time to apply, @minetta90, and how soon we would hear back once we do? I submitted my application to both Rutgers campuses last night. My transcripts are in the verifying stage and it says the same for the schools I submitted to. I am hoping it all gets processed quickly because I submitted them at the beginning of February, in addition to my reference letters. Although I applied to both, I really have my fingers crossed for Rutgers Newark campus Fall 2016!! Good luck to everyone and thank you again for the comments :)

I'm a current student at Rutgers and finished my application a few weeks ago for the New Brunswick campus. Interesting to know that the program is actually 16 months long. I would love to stay at Rutgers, my only issue is that I have already been accepted to another school and would have to move out of state for it. My other school has already sent out information on clinicals and background checks and it is stressing me out that we won't hear back from Rutgers until the end of June/early July. Does anyone have any similar issues like mine as far as already hearing back from other schools?

@steph14, no problem! They said to keep in mind that NursingCas takes 6-8 weeks for processing, however, as long as we're within the deadline of June 1st, its not an issue when we apply. There is no rolling admissions, so they won't start reviewing applications until after the deadline. I believe they said we would hear during the month of June, but it wasn't specified exactly when. Are you applying to any other programs?

@marty02 , I defintely have similar issues. I had to refrain from applying to schools that begin in May, as I won't hear back from Rutgers until almost July, basically. It sucks, but hopefully it will be worth it when we get in! (:

Hello everyone! I've also just my name in for the accelerated nursing program. I initially had my name in for the part-time accelerated program, but with its recent shut down it was either no nursing program or this program. I'm really hoping I'll be considered though. My GPA is

@minttea90 Hi! Sorry work had been very chaotic so I hadn't been able to check this in a while. I had also applied to Thomas Edison in NJ, Northeastern, and I am considering Duke & University of Miami. All the schools seem great and like a nice change of pace, but my heart is in it to go to Rutgers. I had called them and they said unfortunately we probably will not hear back until 2nd week of July. Which is so unfair because the program starts in September and if we receive other acceptances it's going to put us in a hard place. Definitely will make things stressful having it be so last minute.

I submitted my application early in hopes that it was rolling admission... clearly I didn't realize that it was not at first. I am currently retaking statistics because I got a C in it my first time around. Now I have an A and I foresee myself getting an A in the class. Does anyone know how to update your nursingcas to post new grades and have them resubmitted to your schools so they see these changes?! Thanks!
