Rush University Generalist Entry Master’s (GEM) Fall 2024

Published

Hi! This is for a space for people applying to Rush University's GEM program for fall 2024 to share! I submitted a bit over a month ago, and shortly after recieved an email inviting me to an interview which I believe will be taking place in a month or so. Was everyone invited to an interview? Or was it selective at all? How is everyone feeling in general?

Hi there! I just submitted my NursingCAS application yesterday morning and supplemental last night. I also received an interview invitation this morning and thought it was kind of strange how I had only submitted my initial application around 24 hrs before that. There's no way they could interview every applicant, but I'm curious to know how many interview invites they typically send out as well.

Hello! How is everyone preparing for their interviews? Does anyone have any tips? Mine is on Tuesday!

Hi! I just completed mine. There are 10 mandatory questions (what diversity you bring to the table, tell us about a time you made a mistake, what characteristics do you think a nurse what makes you choose nursing, etc that sort of thing.) it was conducted by a PNP student I think. And then you can just talk or ask questions after the 10 questions! Low stress. Mine only took 15 mins haha. Don't worry about it. I prepared almost none and was fine.

Okay cool! thank you so much! Out of the 10 questions what was the hardest question for you if you don't mind sharing?

I think I choked the hardest on the question that asked me what aspect of diversity I bring to their program. Of course, we are all diverse but I'm not exactly the prime picture of diversity haha and I hadn't really prepared an answer for that exact aspect of diversity. I would put some thought into what makes you unique whether it's your culture, background, experiences, etc and how to coherently articulate that!

Hey all! I applied early January and received an email to complete an interview about 2 weeks later. I had my interview today and it was very laid back. Felt more like a general conversation than an interview.

Thank you guys for sharing your experience with the interview, it's reassuring! I have my interview tomorrow and am quite nervous about it since I'm scared I'll blank out and stumble over my words during it. ?

My interview is tomorrow too! I am super nervous!!

had my interview today and we went over time by 10 minutes... hope that's okay, but my interviewer was nice and relaxed which helped a lot with my nerves.

I also had my interview today! My interviewer was super nice and easy to talk to. Feeling pretty good about it, so hoping for the best. I was told we should hear back by the first week of March!

Had my interview earlier this month, and it went really well and we talked for almost an hour, so that is encouraging. I heard decisions will be released on the 7th of March. Also applied  to the Entry masters programs at DePaul and UIC. Good luck to everyone!
