Rush University Generalist Entry Master’s (GEM) Fall 2024

Hi! This is for a space for people applying to Rush University's GEM program for fall 2024 to share! I submitted a bit over a month ago, and shortly after recieved an email inviting me to an interview which I believe will be taking place in a month or so. Was everyone invited to an interview? Or was it selective at all? How is everyone feeling in general?

Has anyone paid the deposit yet or are you guys waiting till you hear back from other schools ?

I paid mine over the weekend! I already heard back from the other programs I applied to and decided on rush:)

I also paid my deposit over the weekend. 

Now looking at logistics of moving to Chicago. If anyone is local, and has recommendations for areas that are nice to live, with good walking, public transit commute to Rush, let me know!

Rush is in the medical district, so you could look for housing there or in the west loop. I would highly recommend Ukrainian Village or West Town as they are super close and are a bit more on the affordable side. I live on the cusp of Humboldt and Wicker Park which is also pretty close to Rush and pay $1600 total in rent for a 2 bed 1 bath just to give you some ideas 🙂

Hi! Has anyone received their financial aid package or have any idea when those will be sent out?

I haven't received anything yet, but I emailed the financial aid office about 2 weeks ago regarding the FAFSA and merit-based scholarships, and here's the answer I got: "As of now, the 24-25 FAFSA application is still delayed getting over to Institutions across the country due to the technical difficulties on the Department of Education's end ... At this time, the College of Nursing has not made us aware of any merit-based scholarships awarded for your program. We typically do not start receiving information to add to students' accounts until the first month of the term. Our department will stay vigilant in accordance with packaging students as we begin to receive 2024-2025 FAFSA applications pulled into our systems hopefully by the end of next week. We are hoping to have the majority of Graduate level students packaged by mid-June." I hope that helps!
