Hello everyone,
I have interview coming up next month for the CRNA program at Rush University...I was wondering if anyone had any advice or tips for the interview? What kind of questions should I be ready for? What's the best way to prepare for the interview? Thanks in advance for all your help!
I actually work at Rush, I float to all of the ICUs including recovery which allows me to interact with a lot of the SRNA's. I have been told by many of them that the residents trump them on getting better cases and are pretty much left with the easy left over cases and feel that their clinical experience isn't strong.
Funny thing that this was one of my reasons to decline my Rush interview after getting my acceptance at RF. I figured competition with the anethesia residents would be a problem. Also, all training is held within the Rush system so I felt that I might be limited on my clinical exposure, especially with Illinois being a physician preferred/Opt-In state. Because of this, I felt CRNA training at a place like this would still have a small touch of training you to "stay in a box" under physician direction. The last thing for me was that the program is 4 months longer which I look at as a potential loss of $40-50k in wages after graduation. The biggest trade-off for RF is the 1.5 hour round trip commute from the city every day for most of the 3 years but I figure that's in itself is a small sacrifice for the diverse clinical opportunities alone.
In the end, Rush is prestigious name to receive your training and I think either school is a solid choice in the end because you'll still earn CRNA at end of your name :). Good luck to all with your decisions and GO RF Team 19!
What are you guys doing to prepare? Not necessary academic wise but financially? I have saved up a bit but I feel like in need to go into overdrive but at the same time I just want to also go on a couple of vacations before I start! I've been working OT the past month but am just worn out!!
Any suggestions as to how to work smarter?
ChicagoICURN I have an interview with Rush next month. I understand that there are two separate interviews with faculty, and a tour. Do you have any recommendations on how to prepare for the faculty interviews? Any info you have is greatly appreciated!
You already heard from Rush? When is your interview?
