Specializes in Emergency Nursing.

Hi all

I am currently working in an Aboriginal community in Australia and was wondering if there were such communities or hospitals in Washington state that were predominantly ran by indigenous people as my passion is in indigenous health. Thank you

Yes you can apply for the different tribes. Look up washington state tribes. Then go to their websites job postings and see if they have anything. Alot are related to chemical dependency.

Specializes in Critical Care and Community Health. Dabbled in Cor.

You can also check Indian Health Services online. That tells you what is available and what is tribal ran. I live in Seattle area. The tribal people here have assimilated and I wouldn’t refer to them as indigenous. Poverty, however; is a real problem as is homelessness.

Individual tribes are experiencing much more resources than in the past, and have developed excellent health care programs.

Have you considered Montana? Tribes there continue to experience challenges with health care.

Hi, Caramel 79,

I am also coming from Australia - Sydney. Our family just move over here Seattle-Bellevue a month ago. Are you currently still in Australia or you are in Seattle?

Hi uounique

Sorry just saw your message now. I am still in Australia in NT. Just wondering if you used an agency to get you to WA or did you do the whole process yourself? I am wanting to work in smaller hospital like those critical access hospitals. Where do you work and what do you specialise in?

Hi Caramel,

I come here based on my partner visa. I am currently preparing for the nursing registration here NCLEX RN, so didn't pay much attention on finding a job. From what I know, for Australian resident,, we can apply E3 working visa. Do you have a timeframe coming over to Washington State?
