Rumors about acceptance to NS

Letters are sent at our school. As long as you have a GPA of 2.5 and you score high enough on you NLN exam and have your application and transcript in, your in. But I know my school still sends letters.

Where I am applyign says you ahve to have a minimum of a c. But It is also competitive, which means the a people get in first, I guess. But also the interview is a big part, as the lady said there were peopel who did well in school but were just really weird at their interviews and they didnt get in. She didnt use the word weird. She couldnt think of the right word, but I basically gathered that maybe there was something just a little bit off about them.

I actually went to class with girls who said they were "in" the nursing program for this Fall, and admission decisions hadn't even been made yet.

NEVER listen to rumers...go by what the department says.

A rumor floated around my first time applying that the letters were sent out aready. So I went the mailbox everyday for two weeks! The letters were sent out at the end of the month rather then the middle. In any case, trust when I say the "reliable authorities" are not reliable. Just keep doing what you are doing. Everyone is anxious to know his/her status and most will stop at nothing and may ask people who don't know to make him/her self feel better. GL.

At my school you take an entrance exam in Jan. and you get a letter anywhere from late April to May, you have to have a C in your Sciences and a C in your math req. You basically need a 2.75 overall to be considered, but everyone gets a letter accepted/rejected. We could tell if we got accepted before we opened them because acceptance letters are fatter! :balloons:

Did you hear any rumors about when and how people were notified about being accepted into nursing school?

At our school, the website said we would know our status by the end of June. That was not true.

One day in Micro, someone was talking about how if we got a letter, it meant that we were not accepted. Then at a table across the room someone else said that they weren't sending Aout letters at all and if you didn't get a phone call then you didn't make it in.

Up until that point, I didn't know anything about a phone call.

Everyone was talking about getting a letter. As far as I know, nobody got a letter. BUT...I got a phone call saying I was accepted!!!

YAY!!!!!!!!!!!

A few of us that did (and didn't ) get in were talking and we figured out that it wasn't possible to get in if you didn't have a 4.0 in prereqs.

What is it like where you go to school?

My school sent out letters for acceptance and rejection! I was accepted, thank god! But I also know the best thing to do is just to be patient and wait, even though the nights can be sleepless, been their done that!

I'm in NY and about a week after I took the NET, I called to find out if I passed or failed (thank God, I passed). I was told I'd receive a package with my application and 3 reference forms. I was also told to start working on a 2 paged bio sketch. Once the admissions office received everything that I needed to send in, they called me for an interview. The interview, I think is also a big part of getting in. For two weeks, I walked around asking everyone if just passing the NET was enough to get me accepted. Some said yes, some said no. The truth (told to me by the admissions woman interviewing me) is NO. Just passing the NET isn't enough. They take everything into consideration. Your NET, your high school scores, any other college scores, your bio sketch, your application and all information on it and finally your interview. They take all of it into consideration at the school I'll be attending. I can only imagine (not a guarantee) that most schools take more than your entrance test score to accept/reject you. It's a hurry up and wait world, and it'll drive you crazy waiting but I wish you LOTS of luck!
