Does anyone take this for school and/or work? How do you like it? Is it convenient? Easy to use? Very expensive? I live in Parker, and would look into using it to go to school (if I get in). There is a station near me at Lincoln Ave. Does anyone know if it stops near DSON? Thanks!

I worked downtown for about 20 years and took a bus nearly every day (this was before Lite Rail opened). I was very happy with it, but some people just like to drive. Check out:

Once you're downtown, you can probably use the 16th Street (free) mall bus to get to the school. Also if you talk to Jeff, ask him if the school participates in any kind of RTD discount program, such as the ECO pass. Now the ECO pass is a real deal
That is a good deal, thanks. I know lots of schools have deals with RTD. I will check out the site, thanks. I like driving, but hate driving in the city, having to find parking, etc. Plus, since it would take me so long to get there, I think the time would be put to good use studying.

I live north of Denver and go to school in Aurora at UCHSC. I take the bus every single time I go down there and also to almost all of my clinicals. In fact, I am almost morally opposed to driving anymore, given the traffic and parking situation. I just can't handle it. I used to view taking the bus as a huge pain but something I "had" to do to save money on gas and car repairs. (I have an Eco Pass provided by my employer, but I know my school does offer some discounted rates.) Now I view the bus as my own personal preference. Instead of wasting time in traffic, I can read, study, sleep, eat, or completely zone out, all while someone ELSE sits in traffic for me. :) I am not as familiar with light rail routes/times/fares, but I do know there are stops near Market Street which is very close to DSON. I would highly recommend using the services RTD has provided. Although it does take some time to get over the "hump" and start living your life on a bus schedule, in the end it is completely worth it. It's SO much better than having to find a freaking parking place, or in my case, having a cow every time someone won't let me merge. So yes, I definitely recommend giving it a shot.
Thanks, that really helps. I really want to try it now.

my husband uses light rail to get to work each day. he absolutely loves it. for you as a student, it will be wonderful. think about it....no traffic stresses, no parking fees, gas $avings, and you will have the time in both directions to study!
i'm going to school in southern colorado, so it's not an option for me, but i can guarantee that if i'm able to use it when i'm back in the metro area and working...i'll definitely use light rail!

Did you get into DSON? If so, when do you start? I start this July and also live in Parker (in Canterberry). I will be taking the light rail....I am going to go on a few practice runs in June just so I know what I am doing and where I am going:bugeyes:
Let me know if you are starting in July too...we can get together and do a test run!

I live in Parker and am going to DSN in July. I want to take the light rail, but I have no clue of the routes. Does anyone know which one I take and where it drops me by the DSN?? Guess I should take a couple practice runs as well!!!
Smiles!

I think it is a 2 block walk from the final station to the school. Where in Parker are you? I am in Canterberry (East on Mainstreet). Are you excited? Have you gotten all of your stuff done? I still need to get my drug test and I think that is it! Just waiting to see when our classes are and what books we will need. Hopefully we will find out soon so that I can budget for my books! It is good to know that there are others in Parker. Maybe we can carpool for our clinicals!
