I have recently encountered a patient with RSD (reflex sympathetic dystrophy), and was wondering if anyone knows much about it. the only information that I have been able to find is on patient advocacy websites, rather than more clinical resources.

Also, this patient is encountering problems among staff nurses (RN's and LPN's) either not believing that she is in pain therefore not giving her her prn meds, or thinking that she can do a lot of things for herself that she is not willing to do due to pain. I was looking for suggestions on how to approach these other nurses, please.

Thanks.

My daughter developed RSD after an injury to her wrist when she was in 8th grade. Because there was no cast or other outward sign of injury her gym and band teachers expected her to perform as usual. Thankfully she had a complete recovery but it was a difficult time.
