RPN to RN questions

Published

Hi everyone,

I am currently in my 2nd year of the RPN program at Fleming College and I have decided I want to take my BScN after I graduate.

I know some schools don't accept you if you repeat a course of receive anything under 70%, however I have received 2 (or 3.. can't recall) marks under 70 however my GPA is still 75% before 3rd semester.

Do I have a chance at any school? What school do you recommend? Any tips?

I'm 23 with a undergrad in Biology, now my PN diploma soon so I really would like to get the BScN done relatively sooner than later.

Please help!

Why didn't you go for a post degree entry spot in uni?

Have you looked at all of the RPN to BScN program websites to see what the requirements are?

I only completed 2.5/4 years and my average wasn't no more than C+

A lot of them require 70 in the entire program for admission.

'An undergrad in Biology' is understood to be an undergraduate degree.

There are tons of posts here regarding bridging programs so search them up. Your school's program page lists the transfer agreements to other schools to complete the BScN.

I bridged through Centennial College/Ryerson and the cumulative GPA must be above a "B" or above. You can have courses below a B but no repeats or failures in any "nursing core courses." And this applies to all your previous post-secondary education. When I applied to Ryerson prior to completing the bridging program I had to send Ryerson transcripts from all post-secondary institutions that I previously attended.

I only know of George Brown having that requirement of having all nursing courses above 70%. Majority bridging programs look at your GPA and if you failed any nursing courses. You should apply to both the bridging programs and 4 yrs nursing Bscn programs.

I'm not sure about other schools, but Mac will require an 82-84% average (typically) to gain acceptance, with those numbers increasing almost every year because of the competitiveness.
