RPN to RN bridging (UOIT)

Published

Hi fellow nurses,

I'm just wondering if anyone here has any experience with applying to the bridging program at UOIT. I know this is an extremely competitive program, usually with a minimum GPA from the PN program of 4.0 (80 percent) I have a 3.9 from the PN program and was told from an admissions advisor from UOIT that I am very likely to get in without completing any upgrading. However, I'm wondering how accurate this is. My mark is very close to the usual minimum average and am afraid this is cutting too closely as it is just slightly below. My question to every one here is, has anyone applied to this program? What was your GPA? Did you get in? Rejected? Upgraded as a result?

Thanks in advance for taking the time :) and I wish everyone else success in their future educational journeys :)

I know your posts were long ago, but I just wanted to comment. You were accepted into the Nursing Post-RPN Bridge at UOIT with a 3.9 GPA? I recall always seeing the cut-off warning on the website as low-80's, which is intimidating. I finished my PN program in August 2017 (Consolidation practicum) and had my grad in October 2017. I finished with a 3.92 GPA and I just applied to the Nursing Post-RPN bridge a day ago. I've seen two grade cut-offs for this program; I saw the low-80s cut-off on the UOIT Post RPN site, but then elsewhere I found a B+ cut-off. In my graduating class of 105 people, only 5 people had honor roll for the entire PN program. I've heard from other grads from PN programs at other colleges that the number of honor roll recipients was quite low as well. Does anyone know how to apply for courses at UOIT for the sole purpose of boosting my average? I have a pending phone consult with an admission officer on Thursday, so I guess I could ask them that too. I am just stressing myself out. :p

There are two sites for this program, one in Barrie and the other one in Oshawa. Their cut-off may differ because you apply to them separately. The staffs may still be on winter holidays and may not reply back so quickly. The winter term officially starts Jan 8 so I'm sure they will get back to you soon or you can try calling again around then. You can also try the suggested certificate programs to boost your GPA as it can be beneficial for you in the long run.

I contacted an admissions officer at UOIT and because I did my PN at Durham, my final Durham GPA is equivalent to a higher mark in UOIT's standards. í ½í¸Š

hi

does anyone know about waiting list student??/ when they will get call???

Hello everyone,

Just wanted more info regarding the program. I have completed my PN program With a GPA oF 3.8, do you think this will allow me to Be qualified to the Rpn bridging program at UOIT?

If the GPA is out of 4.0 or 4.3 then yes, you will most likely get in.

Sadly, my GPA is 3.88. Will that won’t make me eligible for the program? Or are there ways to be eligible? Thank you.

What I mean was if your GPA is 3.88/4.0 or 3.88/4.3 then you will most likely get in.

Thank you. Are you currently in the program? What makes this program different to others? Sorry, I do not really have much knowledge about this one I just heard about the bridging and makes me more interested because I am close to the area

I recently graduated from there. So the main thing about this program at this school is that they have their clinical in the summer time. This does allow more flexibility for people who work and attend school. However, you do need to pay another semester of tuition. Some core courses are different from other schools and for consolidation you have to do 420 clinical hours. Some programs such as cent/ryerson requires roughly 190 clinical hours for consolidation.

^^^Thank you so much for sharing your experience. I applied for UOIT Sept 2020 so *fingers crossed*.

During the semesters, how many days do you have school on average? I’m trying to see how many days are available to work.

You're welcome, hope you get in! So they are pretty good and try to squeeze all the courses in 1-3 days. The days may feel longer but you won't need to go on campus for like half the week.
