RPN->RN in ontario?

I found 3 info about RPN->RN and I have no idea about them.. any clues?

1. e-educanada.com (on Bay St)

2. rmh.org (Bridging program - need to work for 2 year at that place after)

3. scopenews.org (patricia Elliot miller) summer 2003, search the pdf

4. cno communique 2003 dec. letter to editor says cno will inform the rpn of the upgrade info from steering commitee.

what does those mean?

As of this year, all new RN's must have a Degree - not just a three year diploma - so you must start right back at the beginning if you are an RPN going for your RN. There is no bridge program as of yet, it was abolished with the Degree requirement. Lots of people don't know this, including older RN's who bridged when the RN was a three year diploma. I didn't find anything on RMH's website, and that Edu-canada one is outdated and basically looks fishy to me (pending ministry approval in 2003?).

I, too, am hoping they come up with a new bridge program. It's a shame to start right back at the beginning when I will have so much experience. The problem, as I understand it, is crediting COLLEGE level courses to UNIVERSITY level. They just don't translate well. i.e. A college credit in Biology is not the same as a University credit in the same course.

Sorry to be a downer.....

Centennial does not have a bridge program at all. It will take 5 longs yrs to go from a pn to a bsn! What stupidity. This is what i hated most about living in E. Canada. All the good stuff was out west in BS. Five yrs is a masters degree! I agree with the poster on a page that something has to be done to allow more rns in the field without all the years and loans it will take for a simple rn degree.

Georgian College is developing a bridging program as well. Possibly to be offered next year.

right now most if not all the bridging programs are 3-4 yrs in length... if you look at UofIT it is still about 3 yrs... u just go through the summer months...

The George Brown College bridging to BSN program has ben put on hold and *might* be up and running again in Sept 2012...:rolleyes:

The ones I know about abe the Centennial-Ryerson program, OIUT, and I think McMaster Uni has it too, last time I cheked it was with Mohawk and Connestoga colleges, but I think it's E-stream...

NIPPISSING UNIVERSITY: RPN-BScN: PT, ONLINE, 5 years-2 courses/semester, 3 semesters/year, Clinical in home town. About $3000/ year, so $15,000... all most likely recouped in pay difference over the next two years following graduation and RPNAO may pay up to $1500/ year. Need to have your employer become an affiliate. Need about 8 interested RPNs.

Hi, yes I will be applying for Nippissing this month, I am an RPN in Ontario, Niagara Health System is now affiliated.....

Is anyone else appling or in the program ? I would love some advice or feedback...have a great day .......
