RPN Bridging to Uni - Centennial/Ryerson

World Canada CA Programs

Hi All! I have applied to the full time Bridging program at Centennial college for fall 2020. I was then told by admissions that the full time bridging has been cancelled (most likely due to the covid situation and other issues). I do have an offer for the Bridging Flex program, but I am not sure if I should accept the offer as I have read that the program does not go through the Summer and it is 3 semesters. If I accept I would not be able to start University the coming fall - 2021 at Ryerson delaying going to university another year. Also another issue is that once you start bridging as a flex student I have read that you can only get into the part time post diploma program at Ryerson, therefore I am unsure what to do at this point.

Any suggestions?

Did they give an alternate start date for the full time bridging? Like January 2021, or it’s just cancelled until further notice?

Also the part time Ryerson thing was changed recently. If you completed Flex at Centennial, Ryerson is now allowing you to apply to full time.

No alternate start date was given.

Oh perfect thank you, I did not know that. Thank you for replying!

The flex bridging program is strange since there is no Summer semester. If I do take it then would be finishing up the last semester Sept 2021.

Do you happen to know if I do the flex program at Centennial and then continue to Ryerson part time would I have to wait to enrol in Sept 2022 or would I be able to start the Ryerson program part time say Jan 2021?

Just trying to weigh all options.

Since when Flex bridging doesn’t run in the Summer? It used to. Did they recently change this?

For your last question, if nothing has changed, yes you can start Ryerson part time in January. I was told this in April 2019.

I have no idea. I read this on Centennial's website in the program overview section:

While this health program will feature the same curriculum as the full-time Bridging to University Nursing program, it will also offer fall and Winter intakes. The fall intake doesn't run during the Summer, while the Winter intake runs three consecutive semesters.

This is why I started to contemplate all this. Unless maybe the site isn't up to date. I have no idea

Oh okay. That’s a new thing, fall flex intake used to run through the Summer.

Honestly, I’m so sorry. This is such craziness. I guess you have to decide to either take the Flex program (a reminder that yes you can start Ryerson part time in January), start Ryerson full time in Sept 2022 or wait to see if full time bridging will be offered a January 2022 start date (in which case you’ll start Ryerson Sept 2022).

Did you apply to any other schools for Fall 2020?

I know right? Things are definitely hectic. I will be considering the options.

I unfortunately did not apply to other schools for Fall. I initially went to Centennial for the RPN diploma so figured that was the way to go for me, considering I've been a previous student, moreover Centennial not being to far from home.

The school just sent an email to the students. The FLEX program starting Fall 2020 will go through the Summer to ensure we will make it to Ryerson in Fall 2021

The only issue will be that FLEX will go through 3 semesters so it will cost significantly more than the FULLTIME program.

I would take this option. It sucks to pay for 3 semesters instead of 2 but it’s the best option available at the moment.

Hello oneday_rn,

I have also receive the offers of Flex and online, but I have not received any emails about moving the last semester of Flex to Summer in 2021. Do you mind showing me the email. Thanks a lot!

I am curious if OSAP could provide some grants.
