Roseman University Spring/Feb 2020

Published

Hi everyone!

The Spring 2020 application period has just opened up! I just wanted to start a new thread for those who are rolling over from the last application period (Fall/Oct 2019) as well as to those who are applying for the first time to share our questions and/or concerns.

Feel free to ask, comment or discuss anything about the admissions process, interviews, and the program itself.

Do let us know whether you're a rollover applicant or first time applicant, too. Good luck everyone!

Has anybody received an interview invite yet? I’m a rollover applicant and just received one few hours ago!

Hello Minniemin, I randomly found this forum and noticed your comment. I applied for the last interview for November 2019 but did not get an interview, so I rolled over. I was just informed there was a large amount of people that have applied, and was not selected for January 2020 interview. My advisor told me not to worry and there is still Feb, and March interviews. I was wondering how long you waited once you rolled over until you got an invite?

Does anybody need a roommate for the South Jordan campus? I'm not having any luck finding a place. [email protected]

Has anyone received an email about Orientation?

I have. It just has the date, time, and address (South Jordan, UT). Nothing else is mentioned. That information should also be in your offer letter. Hope this helps.

Does anyone know if we need all vaccines/immunizations before the start of classes in February — or is it staggered as some have several doses?

If you can get it done before that would be best. But you do have a little bit of time after classes start to get your shots.

I just checked the email that was sent from the clinical director (SJ) stating they require you to have them done BEFORE orientation.

Thank you. It’s not clear at all. I don’t see that in the Henderson email. As there are several doses for some, maybe the series can be started by orientation. I don’t know. I find communication very lacking thus far. I’m surprised this was not sent out with the acceptance letter. ?

They also told my cohort that we needed to have the shots completed before orientation. But we actually had about a month to get them done. These vaccinations are not to start the program. They're solely for your clinical rotation sites, which you won't start until the end of Block 3. So if you can't get it done by orientation, don't stress because you will have more time ?

Thank you! I’m trying not to stress and you’ve definitely helped. ?

Has anyone received this (as per the acceptance email)?:

“A Clinical/Supplies Packet will be emailed from the clinical coordinator containing information regarding textbooks, clinical requirements and supplies 30 days prior to Orientation.”

I see that this thread, although geared towards ABSN, has a few comments regarding BSN. I just wanted to first say that this thread has been very helpful. I will mention that my last 60 GPA coincided with the average for this program (3.3) while my pre-req. GPA was below average, my TEAS also coincides with the average (79%) - I am a Fall 2020 BSN applicant - I was offered an interview first by phone (directly from my advisor), but received the formal invitation immediately through email. It is set for February 11, 2020 - It's important for anyone reading this to understand that your "numbers" (grades, TEAS, etc.) if NOT exemplary does NOT mean that you are automatically not considered - my advisor, who truly played the role as my advocate reassured me that student's like myself are given these opportunities as well because there is a lot to be proven OFF paper (meaning in person such as during an interview) - do NOT get discouraged - Roseman is my next chance as I have already been denied from one nursing school in the past - I truly appreciate that Roseman even gives students the opportunity to interview in the first place because a good nurse (and nursing student) is MUCH more than grades and testing results - you have to prove that you are a strong and resilient future student ready to represent a competitive program. I now feel better prepared for the interview based on this thread and wish all of you the best of luck... P.S - let me just mention that although the relationship you build with your advisor may not seem of the highest importance initially - it is incredibly vital to your success - you should condone yourself professionally through every email, phone call, etc. because THEY may be the ones vouching for you later - and IMPRESSION IS EVERYTHING! Be consistent, keep them up to date, and always represent yourself in the most professional manner possible. And one last thing... do the work to prepare for the interview! I have done something in preparation every day since basically applying and I applied very early, this is only the second interview pool (this is for Henderson NV, btw) and I have looked through every tab on the Roseman website because I want to be prepared! Do the dirty work, I am hoping this will be all worth it!
