Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hello! I couldn’t find a thread for this cohort yet and I wanted to reach out and see if there is anyone in the same boat as me. I applied to this cohort as soon as it was made available (I think May 3rd?). I’m from CA and I opted to try for the South Jordan campus. My stats are around 3.5 GPA for science/math and around 3.8 GPA overall with a 94.7% TEAS score. I haven’t received an email yet regarding interviews and from previous threads it looks like I could be waiting until August to receive an invitation, if I am invited at all. Has anyone else heard anything back regarding this cohort yet or any that rolled over into this cohort? Would love to connect with others trying for the cohort, too. This is my first experience with Roseman so if anyone has tips or advice, I’d love to hear it ? Thanks!

Hi Olga,

I think a lot of us California people are being sent to South Jordan! I found an apartment in Draper elementary area. It's rated 9/10 on greatschools.org. I heard the school districts won't allow transfers to other schools that you don't live near and they want you to register when you have an actual proof of address. I'm still needing to find out about after school! I'm stressed!

I'm stressed too. We will attend Oak Hollow. I called them today and asked about a bus. Unfortunately, they said no because the school is located 1.5 miles away from our apartments and suggested walking ? I'm not sure if it's a good idea. Our labs begin at 8 AM, and school opens at 8.30. I have no idea how to handle this situation. I have sent many emails to the nursing department about a schedule, and the only answer I received was "from 8 till 3"?

That's crazy! I just called the elementary  school were supposed to send them to and they said "we don't offer after school programs due to COVID" what the hell! But you still expect the children to show up to school! I don't get it! We have after school programs in California, as we should. I cannot pay for a nanny or daycare on top of everything else! The school should have at least given a time schedule so we parents can figure out if it's possible to make happen or not..

Andrea,

I just received an email from Kristine (administrative assistant). She gave me two email addresses of persons who "maybe" know our schedule. I will send them emails today and ask if they can help us. But, honestly, I'm not happy with it. For now, we applied to American Preparatory Academy (charter). There are available spots there. So far, this school schedule works better for me.

Hi Olga,

I don't think the school considered parents. There was nothing noted as a "this will be your schedule" so plan accordingly. It's just expected that we go along with any schedule they give whenever they want to give it. Parents need to plan our childcare, so this is frustrating, our scheduled hours should be on the welcome packet. I just spoke with a Utah daycare and they said for after school care/pickup its $110 per child so for me $220 a week or $880 a month and we would only need it because they get out of school before 3pm. This is crazy. Is the charter school open later?

Hi Andrea,

This is a response  Associate of Dean:

"I understand your concerns regarding your move to a new city, it can be very daunting, especially with young children.

In terms of your block 2 course for scheduling purposes, I would advise you to anticipate being on campus for the entire length of the course daily from 0800-3:00 pm. You will have a combination of didactic and hands on learning, as well as time for practice and implementation of the skill and knowledge that you will be acquiring."

So, it looks like we must be on campus from 8 till 3. I have no idea what to do. I called our public elementary school, and the earliest time when I can drop off my son is 8.30 AM; pick-up time is 3.30. We applied to American Preparatory Academy (charter). You can drop off a child at 7.45. Roseman is located 10 minutes away from this school. However, there are two minimum days when kids should be picked up at 2.45:(:(:( I'm not sure if any after school programs will be OK to pick up kids only two days a week. Additionally, I think about remote learning. However, it will be our last resort. My son has been on remote learning since March 2020. I don't want him this torture again. BUT! Maybe it's an option to transfer kids online, and when we are done with block #2, we will transfer them to in-person—just my thoughts.

Hi,

Thank you for the scheduled hours. It's definitely helpful to know when we will need childcare.

Hi everyone, I know some have discussed here about possible schedules but does anyone have more info on when we would actually receive them? Also, have people ordered textbooks already? I’m relying on financial aid to cover costs but since those haven’t been disbursed yet, did anyone else pay out of pocket? Thanks!

I emailed admissions and they said we will receive a syllabus for each block about 2 weeks before it starts that will give us the days and times we will need to be on campus.

Hello! Wish you guys the best of luck, you guys got this.

Definitely, for the interviewing process, there were a lot of questions that touched based on what motivated you to choose to be a nurse and how did you get to that decision.

If anyone needs books, I have books for sale, for each block, at an affordable rate so you don't have to spend 2x the money. I also have XS & S clinical scrubs as well if anyone wants to check that out :) or anyone questions at all in regards to the process.

I can be reached at [email protected]

Hi and congratulations on your acceptances! Not sure if anyone is checking this thread anymore, but I'm looking for clarity from those further along in the process.

I applied to Roseman Feb 2022 ABSN and received an invitation to interview next week.

My question is: Is the interview a formality? Do you know anyone who interviewed and then did not receive an offer?

Example: If there are 20 candidates on the Zoom interview next week, will all 20 of us get offers? Or will only 10 get offers?

I'm very strong at writing and interviewing and plan to prepare, but I'd like to know how competitive it is at this stage.

Thanks for your insights!

I don't think it is just a formality, but I am unsure about the % of people accepted. I think the % accepted is higher for the first round since all seats are open, then the second and third rounds depend on how many have been accepted from prior rounds.

I am also!

I'm waiting for replies back from admissions to help clear up some things..

Email me, I think communicating through that would be easier
