Roseman University ABSN October 2021

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hello! I couldn’t find a thread for this cohort yet and I wanted to reach out and see if there is anyone in the same boat as me. I applied to this cohort as soon as it was made available (I think May 3rd?). I’m from CA and I opted to try for the South Jordan campus. My stats are around 3.5 GPA for science/math and around 3.8 GPA overall with a 94.7% TEAS score. I haven’t received an email yet regarding interviews and from previous threads it looks like I could be waiting until August to receive an invitation, if I am invited at all. Has anyone else heard anything back regarding this cohort yet or any that rolled over into this cohort? Would love to connect with others trying for the cohort, too. This is my first experience with Roseman so if anyone has tips or advice, I’d love to hear it ? Thanks!

Hi!

Thanks for the info! I'm looking at a few apartments now. I just spoke with the admissions person and she said to plan A tentative 8-5pm for the 27-28th on campus then we go back October 8th or 11th for two weeks on campus with an 8-3pm schedule. I'm trying to find info on elementary schools/after school programs also. I hope they aren't big on sending us to school on snow days! ?

I was worried about snow days too! However, one of the counselors ------------------- told me that if the snow is heavy then they usually cancel on-campus classes.

I recently accepted my offer for Henderson campus. For those who received their financial award letters already, how long did it take? And when do we receive more information about uniforms and anything else about preparation for the program?

For anyone who lost a job last year or was furloughed and didn’t receive much from FAFSA since it looks at 2019 income, I suggest contacting --------------------- and asking if you can request for professional judgement. You might be able to get more from FAFSA. I was able to qualify for a full pell grant. ??

It took about two weeks from acceptance. As of right now, we haven’t gotten anything else regarding uniforms. I just know you need a pair of maroon and gray scrubs.

Congratulations to everyone who has been accepted into October 2021 ABSN cohort! If anyone has any questions about the program I don’t mind answering them  ?

Hello,

I have a couple of questions. First, how was the program generally? Second, how many hours did you spend on campus every week (I mean labs and assessments)? Finally, do your professors were interested in your success? Sorry for a lot of questions. I'm from California and got accepted to ABSN in SJ. Still have some concerns, especially about pass/not pass because it can ruin my acceptance to the Master's program in the future.

Thank you!

Hi,

Thanks for the info! I hope so! I've only driven in the snow once in Lake Tahoe and I was soo scared! ?

Hi Everyone!

I've just been accepted to the Henderson location! I’m moving from the bay and I’m completely lost on where to find housing. Does anyone have recs on where to live? + Is anyone in search for an extra house mate?

Congrats! I’m from the Bay too. I’ve been searching on Apartments.com and ApartmentList but everything is Henderson is super expensive. I suggest maybe looking into other nearby cities. I’ve been finding apartments 20 min out that have availability.

Has anyone had luck finding any free pdf files of the textbooks for blocks 1-6?? :( The textbook package is so expensive and the textbooks on its own is expensive as well.

Rent the books out on chegg/Amazon! It’s soooo much more cheaper. Just be smart on the timing because there are some books that we need for other blocks so rent them out when it’s a lot closer to when we start! :) I looked up all of them and only one book which is from Block 1 didn’t show up.. which you can buy from the website they sent us for $28 :) I was about to purchase the package until I decided to see if chegg had any of them and it had almost all of them. Some are best purchased like books from block 5 I believe because we’re going to need them later on and it’s cheaper to purchase off of Evolve rather than to rent and have to pay an extension.

Hi Andrea,

I'm from California too (San Diego) and will move to Utah with two kids (my husband will stay in California). Did you find a before/after school program? My son is 10. I have no idea what to do with him. His school starts at 9.

Hi Olga,

I think a lot of us California people are being sent to South Jordan! I found an apartment in Draper elementary area. It's rated 9/10 on greatschools.org. I heard the school districts won't allow transfers to other schools that you don't live near and they want you to register when you have an actual proof of address. I'm still needing to find out about after school! I'm stressed!
