Roseman University ABSN July 2019

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hi, everyone!

Since the application has opened, I wanted to start a thread for those applying to Roseman University for entry in July 2019.

I look forward to hearing from you guys!

I got into the Utah campus as well!

Have you guys received information about the roommate database. I will be renting , and I think it would be good to start looking for places sooner than later.

If anyone needs a roommate I found some cheap 3 bedroom apts in Utah.

How much is the rent and in what cities?

For those of you looking for apartments for the SJ campus, rentler.com is great. classifieds.KSL.com is the locally used version of Craigslist. No one really uses craigslist here.

Don't feel like you have to live in South Jordan - SJ is pretty quiet and you may be happier choosing a place closer to things you like to do vs trying to be as close to campus as possible. SJ is also a longer drive to our clinical sites than some other areas you could live in.

@asMurse

Hey, not sure if you’re on the roommate database. I’m looking for one more roommate for a three bedroom. If interested let me know !

@Ssau2

Yeah. I'm interested. Yeah I don't think I'm on the database. Do I have to ask to be put into the database or does Roseman automatically put you in it? Either way, I'm interested. Are you on the Facebook page? My name is Armen, PM me with some info. if you can. Thanks.

@paisling When do your packet for clinical rotations go out where we need to do our background check, etc? How early before the start of the semester?

About a week after I got my admissions offer and accepted it I got a follow up email with the admissions packet. That email gave a specific deadline to submit the packet (which included things like background check) that was about 10 days out.

You'll be given more paperwork related to clinical once school is underway. Make sure you check your Roseman email daily and read the emails that you get. The clinical coordinators and other administrative people are very clear about what they need from you and when.

Is there any white coat ceremonies to expect? Or is orientation just to give us information.

Nursing doesn’t have a white coat ceremony. Orientation is information, meeting your class, and getting your computer, etc.

Hi!! ? Can anyone from the Henderson or South Jordan campuses give any more info about the housing situations/environment? I'm not expecting to go outside too much, but how's the weather like? I'm terrible with warm weather, so I was leaning towards SJ (it's that bad, LOL), but I haven't heard much about life in SJ ?

Any thoughts/opinions would be great!!

If you go to SJ, you could live pretty much anywhere in the greater Salt Lake area. Some areas (like SJ) are more conservative and Mormon, and some are less so. You can use Rentler.com to see how much stuff rents for here. You do NOT have to live in South Jordan - a 15 minute drive would put you in a different town and it may be closer to things you like to do.
The dominant religion in Utah is Mormon, and this impacts some of your daily life. A lot of local businesses are closed on Sundays, and as a whole the area is much more family oriented than you might be used to. Alcohol laws are much more strict than NV. However it is not an issue to live here and NOT be Mormon, and you will (most likely) not be treated differently for it.

Utah gets all four seasons and is cold with snow in winter and hot and dry in the summer. If you go to the SJ campus you are close to hiking, skiing, etc - all sorts of outdoors stuff within a 30 minute or so drive.
