rose state college..advice anything you can give to help

Hi. I am on a 2 year track to getting my associates in science. I want to further that with a bsn but i think since we are military i am going to get my RN license first with a associates then move on to my bsn. Here is the thing though i am just starting it this summer. I am taking 4 internet courses and then taking actual classes in the fall. I hope to be able to get all my pre reqs done to apply for their nursing program the following fall or spring, whenever it opens up to. I am really pushing with this.

What are their requirements to get accepted? What do you need? I have my CNA license already. I am not sure if that will help me or not. I struggle with dyslexia and dysgraphia and was always told things in life would be hard, in fact my parents never made me push for anything and they would always talk me out of hard stuff. In fact they are doing it to me now with nursing. I struggle with this everyday and i know i can do it but i just fear that i won't be able to get in with how hard i have to work at things.:crying2: Do you think it will be possible for me to get accepted eventually? I know i know i shouldn't be so hard on myself but its really hard when everyone expects you to fail. I have always wanted to be a nurse..always. I don't know why i am self doubting now. taking that first step to apply for admission and take the compass was hard but i did it.

Any advice to give would be greatly appreciated. thank you!

has anyone gotten any letters YET? I anxiously check my mail everyday, and so far nothing. Just wondered if you all had heard anything yet?

No letters yet.. they said they maied them last thursday and friday. I know I managed to make it. I will be in the evening classes.. anyine else??

I was curious when they were going to send out letters myself. I called the secretary today and I had 129 points and found out that I did get into the 1+1 program and there suppose to mail out letters for that next week. I already applied to Francis Tuttle to do there lpn program then I can go back and finish through the bridge program.

The school said the last batch was mailed thursday may 27... good luck everyone!:yeah:

I got a denial letter last week...but my points were calculated wrong. I called and talked to Maria and they had forgotten to pull my work experience letters from last semesters file. She told me that I still wouldn't have enough but that I would get a 1+1 letter. I was considering doing it at Metro Tech but have been calling them for a week and I only get voice mail and no return calls...sigh...

Metro tech is good but they had their lastinfo session in early April and the application deadline was April 30. Try Moore Norman Vo tech. They are still offering LPN classes.

Does that apply to the 1+1 program also? I figured the regular lpn program was full but was trying to find out abou the other...still haven't been able to get a hold of a live person.

The 1+1 is a totally different application process. I went to the info meeting last year and it was my understanding that each votech has a certain amount of allotted spots just for the 1+1. You get your invitation to apply from one of the RN programs (Rose, OCCC, OSU/OKC) then you put in your application and they select who they want. There should be an information meeting about it coming up where they will let you know about it. It was kind of neat, they had a representative from each votech come to the meeting and talk all about what their program is like. If I remember correctly the deadline to apply was towards the end of June. There wasn't much time to get everything together to apply.

I am pretty sure the deadline for 1+1 was April 30th as well. That is what I applied for and they said I needed my COMPASS scores by April 30th. But we may have misunderstood each other. Good luck.

I am not really sure either. I know when I talked to Rose on Monday they said that I should get a letter for the 1+1. I asked her what good it would do if all the LPN programs were full. She said that they had a co-op agreement with Metro Tech, Francis Tuttle, & Moore-Norman and would have spots available. Francis Tuttle is too far for me to drive, Moore-Norman doesn't participate in the student loan program, and I haven't been able to verify any information yet with Metro Tech. I am just considering taking the CNA class this summer & reapplying in August but I don't think my heart could take it if I got rejected for 1-2 points again...lol.

hopefully you can get into metro so that you can finish sooner. being rejected is hard... i had a couple of those :crying2:. I will keep my fingers crossed for you.

Yeah, I remember moore/norman reserves like 9 spots for 1+1 students. I want to say Metro Tech has more, like 12 or so.

I got rejected a couple of times and just finally made it in for the fall. I am kind of kicking myself thinking that if I had just gone ahead and done the 1+1 last year, I would only have a year left! Oh well. I think I am going to frame my rejection letters and put them next to my deploma when I graduate, so I know what it took and how hard I worked to get there. :)

I am in the morning classes for the fall, anyone else?
