As the moderator for this forum ... I am interested to know where everyone is from, their background, branch of service (or VA VISN) and what they like the best about Military or VA Nursing .... this forum generally has some really good traffic, and I would like to pull all of us together and get to know one another a little better.
Hello there! I am an RN of 14 years who will be commissioing USAR Nurse Corps tomorrow! Single mom of 2 as well and I am very excited at age 39 to be fulfilling a life long dream of serving! I look forward to enjoying professioanl conversations here. I am a Clinical Manager of a CCU and Step Down currently. Happy to share professional experiences over the years so please feel free to ask!
CONGRATS. I will be attending OBLC on the 16th of Aug and am a mixture of excitement :yeah:with a dose of fear:confused:. I am 45 years old but I am proud to be able to serve my countgry in this capacity. and My sons are just as proud of me, the are all in their 20s now ( my baby just turned 20 yesterday), in college so i felt this was a good time for me to do this.
we must all stick together and encourage each other.
be thinking of me next month.

THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! Good luck at OBC! Wish I was going with you! I applaud your service and for choosing to serve at this point of your life's journey! I look forward to serving with you in the Nurse Corps! :anpom: Thats me cheering for you while you are at OBC!!!!! :)
GetnPhD,
Congratulations to you!!! I actually have not attended OBC yet and I am not sure if I will make the Oct class as I am not in the system yet in order to be able to secure a slot. So I will be looking for your guidance regarding OBC! Best to you and please do keep in touch! Best, Arm.E.Girl
Army Nurse 2 B,
Patience is something that you need to have. I have been waiting for a year, so the end of the journey is drawing near!
Once you get boarded, the time should go by faster, unless there is a reason why you need to delay your start date. I had schooling issues to deal with..but now am ready to go :)
Best of luck!

GetnPhD,
Clarification..I am already commissioned so thank goodness for that!!!! One less timing issue. I agree too with your comment re: board time; once you are notified of your selection by the board it moves quickly. Overall, The Army does a great job with recruiting timelines I have found. Congrats on getting the schooling issues done. Looking forward to serving with you!
