Roll Call for Gurnick Academy Concord Campus LVN January 2011

I just wanted to know who is planning on attending Gurnick Academy LVN for January 2011. I thought we could support each other on our journey to becoming LVN's. So, if you are going to attend this campus for January 2011, reply in this thread and lets help each other to our goal.

I am going in the evening too starting January 2011!!!

I was able to credit grant the prereq's, fundamentals, and A&P but going to audit these classes because the school I am coming from was not very good. I am finding a lot of stuff that we never covered in class because the instructor told us that it was not relavent to our field.

I have already started studying (Ann gave me the book list). I know that once school starts we are going to get slammed with reading and homework, so, I am trying to get a head start. I attended an 18 month program and we had a test(s) every week sometimes 2 in one day. So, right now I am concentrating on Drug Dose Calculations, A&P, Fundamentals and Nutrition.

I spoke with someone who graduated last year from the program and she told me to read ahead of time because the instructors throw a lot at you at one time.

So, have you got your books yet? If you feel like studying together sometime, let me know. I live in Oakland, and usually go to Border's in Alameda on the weekend to study.

I am so excited to see someone who is going to be one of my classmates!!!:yeah:

I wish I already had the books! I asked Ann if I could get my books early so I could study ahead of time also but she said she has not ordered them because she is waiting to see how many people enroll.

Can you tell me what the book list is?

I sent you an email with the books and supply list that I got from Ann. I have the book list for the 2010 - 2011 class, because I was planning on starting the program on Sept 27th, but did not work out. The only thing is that there is a new edition of the Pharm book, but went ahead and just got the edition that was listed. Ann might order the new edition, and if she does, then I will cross that bridge when I get to it. Also, I got the 2011 Edition of the Drug Guide since we are starting in 2011 in leiu of the 2010 edition.

You can save so much money by buying the books from Half.com instead of getting them from the school. You just let Ann know that you do not want the books because you were able to get them form someone who has graduated. That is what I told her and she did not have a problem with it even though it was a lie, but what they do not know won't hurt them right?:rolleyes:

I'll be attending the LVN in October 2011 at the Concord site and wanted to get your views on the program. I'm a little nervous and happy at the same time. I applied to a couple of JC"s and didn't get in. Your views and honesty will be greatly appreciated. Thanks
