I work at a doctors office. the Pt had been at the office a couple of days earlier to see the dr...well ...blood work was done...but his tubes of blood were put in another pts bag...so instead of the pt coming back...due to this being an elderly pt .....the CMA went to his home and drew his blood......IS THIS LEGAl....can a CMA... go to a pts house and do this.....I thought you had to be a LPN or RN ???????????

Depends on many factors, such as which state you are in, the amount of real training the tech has, etc.
Contact your BON for more info.

I thought MAs worked under the MDs license, and whatever the MD trained them to do, they could do? Though that could also be a state to state thing. I don't know if the BON could help much, as MAs dont fall under their jurisdiction?

a MA is not regulated by the BON because their not a nurse. I think its fine though. I don't think there is an offical phlebotomy license and phelobotomist do that around here.
I know that phelobotimist work in hospitals....but how is it really legal for the MA to draw blood in a pts home??? I mean ...i would have thought you would have to be from a home health service???
