RN TO BSN ONLINE THROUGH CHAMBERLAIN

Nursing Students Chamberlain College

Updated:   Published

Hello all, thank you for stopping by to peek at my post.

Has anyone gone through or is currently enrolled in Chamberlain's ONLINE RN to BSN program? A little background: I am a new grad (ADN) and just received my RN License. I have been working as a LVN and since we're still in a pandemic, I thought this would be a great opportunity to continue my education. I may transition to a RN role in the future within my current department at work.

I realize transitioning as a new RN and a new job can be overwhelming on its own. However, that's the reason I chose this program because I hear that it is less rigorous in comparison to other RN-BSN programs.

If anyone has anything to say about this program, pros/cons, tips, how the program and instructors are, how to save on money and tuition, advisor preference, how many classes are recommended to take at a time, anything, it would be greatly appreciated!

Also, just wondering, does anyone know if Jazz appreciation would cont as a humanities class or elective? Please and Thanks in advance!

Oh that’s the same with me!! Have you been assigned your student support advisor?

I havent yet. I have another phone call with the admissions rep on Thursday. They have my one out of 2 of my transcripts so far. I'm just nervous about commiting to chamberlain. Im in a RN to BSN program now but just taking electives not expected to graduate till may 2020 and really don't want to wait that long. Thats why I'm interested in chamberlain to be finished sooner.

We are literally in the same shoes! LOL this is too crazy. I’m nervous too that’s why I’m trying to talk to people who have actually done it. Let me know when you get your advisor. Hopefully we get the same one, and maybe even be in the same class

OMG that is crazy! I'm just scared to jump from the college I am at now cause its very well recognized for nursing in NY. Absolutely I will let you know as soon as I know! I've been looking online at reviews everywhere about Chamberlain too. I know two people who personally did the program. But then my husband is telling me just to stay where I am cause it's a good school also >__<

What do the two people you know say about the program? Did they also do the RN-BSN online program? I just know I don't want to continue with the program I am in now. It's way too overwhelming, the teachers are harsh graders, and the work load is so much. And the the fact that my friend speaks wonders about the RN-BSN route is so enticing. I feel like I can actually see the light at the end of the tunnel. LOL

They liked the program and finished within one year. One said it was mostly comprised of papers. Is the program you are in an online RN to BSN? I'm doing an RN to BSN but only taking the electives right now. But the school I go to have a traditional 4 year BSN that is very well recognized in NY and throughout the country. I tried Capella University online and it wasnt for me.

Are the instructors harsh on grading papers? Writing is not my strongest subject thats why im asking LOL. The program I am in now is online because of COVID, but initially I was supposed to be an on-campus student. Girl, do what you think is best for you! I just feel at this point, I want a school that isn't overwhelming, and where I can finish relatively quickly.

Not really sure. I didn't ask how hard the papers were. Capella was all papers, power points, and video presentations. Writing isn't my strong suit either. It's boring and I would literally just rather take an exam. I'm doing a completely online program right now. Seems easy just that its going to take long. Guess I have to give and take a little bit.

We are way too similar! I love it! I'm hoping papers are not difficult too write. They are very picky with grading in my current program.  Well I really hope to be in the same class with you in October. I'm still in the process of having my transcripts evaluated so if I only have to take the 7 nursing classes and 2 electives, I more than likely will start this October. Keep me updated with what you decide. ?

Hi all! My apologies for the late response. I'm glad to see that some of you have started the process! I am currently trying to get a hold of a specific admissions representative. I mentioned I was a Kaiser Permanente employee and they give some sort of discount. Definitely something to ask about and get a discount on!

Not sure how the process starts since I'm waiting to be contacted. I'm assuming classes are around 8 weeks at a time. I wonder if I'll be able to transfer some of the classes I've taken. Anyone know what classes are needed? I've decided that I would love to start next year. I don't think I'll be able to get everything together until October, but I'll see!

Less rigorous? You mean easy? LOL. It's not difficult in terms of subject matter, but you have to do the work - discussion posts and projects, learning/using APA format, etc.

An enrollment advisor would be the only person who could tell you which of your credits will transfer. Good luck!

Yes, I mean "easier" in comparison to other programs LOL. That's so helpful! Thank you!

I graduated there in 2017 I was apprehensive at first but it was the best thing I ever did. Chamberlain is a positive and supportive role the course is what's required by the state for graduation. They do require you to spend the time I did several hours a day. I graduated with a 3.8 and I worked full time running my own clinic. I am now starting my PMHP Doctorate program in December ay FNU. Good luck you can't go wrong at chamberlain.
