I get paid pretty well as a Nurse in the Navy. I'm getting out soon and moving to rural eastern KY. what is a good resource for researching RN salaries in this area? I have my BSN, CCRN, and 13 years ICU experience. I have an interview this week and would like to go in prepared to discuss a realistic salary.

Thanks!

Do a web search for what you are looking for; I got several hits for sites that give this info (e.g., indeed.com).

Good luck!

Thanks. I've done web searches, they do give a good general idea for KY as a whole. I'm looking for more specifically eastern KY ( very depressed area). Thank you for the reply though!

Glassdoor.com will let you search by hospital/health system.

What part of Eastern Ky? Lexington and Appalachia are both in Eastern Ky, but probably very different salaries.

Actually, Lexington is considered central Kentucky. Eastern Kentucky begins in Richmond, which is where Eastern Kentucky University is located.

I am assuming the OP is referring to eastern portions of the state included Pikeville, Corbin and Prestonsburg.

Is your interview with ARH? Over the summer, I heard from a nurse who worked for ARH that all the nurses were given $6 an hour raises. This was done because nurses were leaving in droves. ARH was also offering doctors paid housing to work there.

I do know that ARH is offering pretty big sign-on bonuses.

Good luck, and just know what you are getting into if you decide to pursue an offer.

Thank you, I am from eastern KY originally and worked at a hospital there in the early 2000s and know exactly what i'm getting into. Pay is pretty good there because the area is so isolated noone wants to live there.

I talked to the HR dept in the area I'm looking and now know the salary. Thank you for the reply!
