My facility wants me take a verbal order from a NP and document it is from a doctor?

Nope, you can't misrepresent the person. Maybe you mean taking a verbal order and recording it like you would for a doctor? The procedure should be identical, just that you have to notate that the provder is an NP, since that is their title.

That sounds right to me--document it the same as you would from a doc
"2/16/11 2210 Verbal order to Mary Jones, RN/ from Helen Smith, NP
Increase HCTZ from 12.5 mg PO daily to 25mg PO to begin with 2/17 dose."
*the NP then needs to sign the order--check your facility policy on the time frame. Some are 24 hours, so flag the order so it can be signed.

There just seems to be no end to ways facilities will ask us to do risky, unethical, illegal, and potentially career ending things for them. Probably could start a thread on that alone.

Is it because the blank on the form says "physician's name?"
