RN pay for contingent RN's at DMC.

Published

Hi,

Does anyone know the pay rate for contingent RNs at Detroit Medical Center?

Is anyone in their system flex plan and how does that work? A friend has told me that the pay is $48/hr for days but that there is a shift diff of about $6/hr for nights is this true?

Specializes in ICU/Critical Care.

Thats what I'm wondering. I want to apply to DRH for MICU per diem. I'm curious what the pay is.

please provide me with info on the contingent plan at DMC

Bumping to see if anyone has a clue to what they pay. I have an interview dor the Float pool next week (contingent) and want to make sure its worth my time to go.

Specializes in Neuro ICU.

Pay for a Staff Nurse who is contingent is about the same as a f/t RN. The difference is no benefits. Shift premium is about 7% for afternoons and about 10% for midnights.

I've never heard of "system flex" and $48 an hour sounds like a fantasy. You might get that on OT w/ a bonus if the manager is really desperate for staff and uses it to get you to come in or stay a few extra hours.

But if there was a $48 an hour RN job there'd be lines around the block trying to get in.

The "float pool" is called DSG. That also carries no benefits but I'm told the pay is higher. DSG is typically f/t or p/t only as far as I know (but I could be wrong).

Unlike many other hospital systems, our contingent pay is based on experience. We lose out on some great potential coworkers because of this. Other hospitals just pay more. The Float pool has been advertised at $40, so don't expect anywhere near $48. Sorry!
